Hi Campus Connect Community, I hope you guys are doing okay? I am so glad that this beautiful opportunity have been made available for members of this community and this is my first post and contest as well. I hope you guys enjoy it.
The name of my great citadel of learning is The University Of Nigeria but before I go further, I will give a brief history of my school then I will be talking about the particular campus which is where my faculty is situate.
The University of Nigeria was founded in 1955 by Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe with its first campus situate at Nsukka. The University of Nigeria is the general name for all the three campuses even though most people refer to them all as UNN(University of Nigeria, Nsukka) which is wrong because being put in such manner you are only referring to the University of Nigeria situate in Nsukka. So the appropriate generalization term should be UN (University of Nigeria). For the purpose of this contest I will be talking about the University of Nigeria situate in Enugu popularly refered to as UNEC(University Of Nigeria Enugu Campus). It was formerly known as the Nigerian College of Arts, Sciences and Technology and was incorporated into the University of Nigeria in the year 1961.
Geographical location:
It is located at the heart of Enugu the administrative capital of Enugu State which is a modern city that can be accessed by Air, Railway and Road transportation. UNEC occupies 200hectares of land in which the Faculty of law, Business Administration, Environmental Science, Health Sciences and Dentistry are situate.
Emblem:
A roaring black lion standing on its hind feet in a green and white background inscribed with powerful words " To restore the dignity of man" which is very thoughtful and sounds like a divine mandate as my pastor in school will say. The lion signifies pride and strength. Students in the University of Nigeria bear the nickname lions and lionesses and are expected to live up to that standard.

Description:
UNEC is a very beautiful institution, a marvelous sight to behold and it is located in a very conducive learning environment. Entering my school your eyes are feasted on the fine structures that adorn the school gate decorated with the Green White Green colour which is also the national colour of Nigeria and the big statue of a Black lion surrounded by beautiful flowers can't escape your sight. Moving in is a sweet smooth ride as you cruise through the tarred roads.
There are Seven hostels in my schools to accommodate students, five girls hostels and two boys hostel which are not far from their departments as this enables easier access and quiets the excuse of lateness to class. This helps in preventing truancy and encourages participation in academic actives. The hostels are very conducive, a home away from home with good facilities to enable students inhabit the place.
In UNEC each faculties have standard lecture halls that are well equipped and furnished to forster learning. I am very sure the Faculty of Law won't escape your sight as the statue of lady Justiciar draws your attention. In UNEC there are lots of eateries to satisfy the appetite of students after long hours of lectures. We have Ceepes for the most tastiest sharwama, Kirsh, Old refectory and small shade bookers. After school hours students can be found at these places to enjoy tasty meals and also catch up with friends.
UNEC is also decorated with beautiful trees and flowers an evening walk inside this school is something you would really want to try out as the cool breeze batters your face. Guys can be found hanging around Ibiam Hostel like vultures either to see their girlfriends or to flatter one and I must say UNEC girls or lionesses are very beautiful.
For the sports lovers UNEC can never and will never carry last. We have a standard basketball court, lawn tennis court and field for playing football. Every year competitions are held across faculties.
A state of the art library for the book worms is made open and available for all students to make use of. The library is well equipped and it is situate at freedom square a very accessible area of the school.
In UNEC two banks are operational to enable transaction and save students the stress of going outside the school

Why I chose The University of Nigeria:
I spent most of my Christmas Holiday in Enugu State and I fell in love with this state. Its beautiful environment, the friendly nature of its inhabitants and the peaceful nature of the city itself. I believe these key factors influenced my choice and also The University of Nigeria has produced a lot of dignitaries in the society and it has one of the best law faculties in the whole of Nigeria. It is also a great institution for learning. Top notch citadel of learning that builds the academic life of students as well as exposing students to other areas of learning outside academics.
Finally there are only two universities in Nigeria, the University of Nigeria and the Rest. I can go on and on telling you why my school is the best but words are not enough experience is the best. You are looking for a great institution search no more The University Of Nigeria is all that you can ever dream of.
