Make Them Smile Contest - Season 2 | Buying Roasted Corn from a Street Vendor

Hello Steem Entrepreneurs, it's a pleasure participating in this contest. I love the initiative and the reason behind this contest that why i really wanted to make an entry.

Patronizing the business of local street vendors does not only help them in their finances but it also puts a smile on their faces when they go home happy they have met their quota or sold everything they brought.
I personally appreciate them because they face some difficulties but then instead of resulting to vices, they decide to earn money through humble means.

I patronized the business of a roasted corn street vendors, she said her name is Ashu. She roasts corn and plums and they are very delicious. I didn't get too much information from her because she was unwilling to give out too much information about herself.

Above is a picture of Ashu, judging from her looks she should be in her mid thirties. She sells roasted corn and plums besides the road just opposite the Molyko Omnisport Stadium (what3words).

To sell her roasted items she used things like;

• Charcoal pot
• Grill
• Blowing fan
• Knife

She uses the charcoal pot to put the charcoal inside where she lits up the charcoal, and the blowing fan to increase the heat of the charcoal. The grill is meant to line up the corn and plums untop and also to give some space between the fire and the roast items. The knife is used to make some lines on the plum so that they can get roast more quickly.

As a side business she sells boiled groundnuts since most at times some people like eating raosted corn and boiled groundnuts.
She sells the corn 100frs (0.8 steem) each. Also the plums (1) and a cup of boiled groundnut is also 100frs (0.8 steem).

I was studying with my friends just around that area so I wanted to buy roasted corn for them and myself. So I went over to her corner and ordered for 4 roast corn. All that costed me 400frs (3.2 steem). This put a smile on her face and I received many many thanks from her. It also made me happy.

Her corn was good and delicious which means it was fresh and straight from the farm.

She has some limitations to her business like;

• Over bargaining from some customers.
• Shortage of coins in the country makes it hard to give balance.
• Inability to sell all the fresh corn in a day and carrying it to the next day makes it unfresh and customers will complain.
