Culinary Business Ideas : Idley and Sanbhar
Namaskar and hello to all my steemian friends.
Today I am participating in an Culinary Business Ideas contest, season -2 hosted by @harferri.
I am also inviting my friends to participate in this contest
To participate in this competition, today I will tell you how to prepare a dish whose manufacturing cost is very low but it is liked very much by the common and middle class people of our country.
It is very tasty to eat and very easy to digest, there is no indigestion after eating it. It is usually available at street vendors for 25 to 30 Indian rupees [about 2 steems] a plate.
Whereas it costs only 8-10 [1/2 or 3/4 steam] Indian rupees to make one plate. In Indian language it is called "Idly and Sambar".
Although this is mainly a South Indian food, but now its demand is increasing in North India and all over India.
There is no special work involved in making this dish, I am showing its methods below.
Method to make Sambar
Bottle gourd, pumpkin, brinjal , French bean, carrot, capsicum, etc. vegetables or whatever other vegetables are available, are cut into very small pieces, put in a little oil in the cooker and mustard is tempered, then these chopped vegetables are added to it. Salt, chilli, turmeric, tamarind juice and pieces of curry leaves [sweet neem] are added and cooked well. Sambar is ready in some time.
[sanbhar]
Method to make Idly
For this, any cheap rice is soaked in water for some time, then it is made into a paste in a mixer and added small quantity of baking soda . This batter is poured into idly molds [available in the market] and steamed inside the idly maker. These are ready in a few minutes.
Now these are served or sold along with 2 pieces of idly by adding sambar in a plate. Raw coconut chutney is also grinded in a mixer and served with it.
In big restaurants and hotels, the price of one plate of Sambar Idly can be up to 150 Indian rupees or even more [about 11 steem].
I would like to invite my three friends to participate in this competition.
