Let me start by congratulating the Steem Entrepreneurs Community for being among the appointed communities to host the Steemit Engagement Challenge for season 7. I have long known the team members of this great community to be very hard-working and committed.

For the second week, you have presented a very interesting and educative contest titled TIME FOR REVIEW by @steempreneurship

You would agree with me that reviews have become an interesting part of our daily lives because we tend to find details and ideas regarding our society and environment.
Being an important evaluation of a particular product or service, reviews could help promote and increase productivity for a brand.

For this contest, I would be reviewing a marketplace in my area. Follow this article to see what I got for us today.

A Review Of The Swali Yenagoa Marketplace

The Swali Yenagoa Marketplace is a vibrant open-air bazaar in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Niger Delta, Southern Nigeria. It is the largest open-air market in the region and is well known for its variety of local and imported goods, as well as for its vibrant atmosphere

The market is open 7 days a week from 8 am to 7 pm and offers a variety of goods and services for both locals and visitors. Here you can find a range of food, clothes, electronics, crafts, and lots more. If you're looking for an enjoyable shopping experience in Nigeria, the Swali Yenagoa Marketplace is definitely worth a visit.

The market is made up of several different sections and areas, each selling different items. The main section of the market is the open-air market where vendors sell fruits, vegetables, spices, and other food items. You can also find stalls selling fabrics, kitchenware, and other everyday household items.

You can also expect to find delicious street food in the market. From tasty snacks like roasted corn on the cob to mouthwatering dishes like jollof rice and grilled chicken.

When you're at the market, don't forget to take in the sights and sounds. It's a great place to shop, but also an opportunity to observe a part of Nigerian culture and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Price Of Some Items In This Marketplace

The prices of items at the market vary greatly depending on the type of item, the quality, and the seller. In general, you can expect to find good deals on items like clothes, shoes, electronics, and home appliances.

Many items can be purchased for cheaper rates than in stores, and it is possible to negotiate prices with sellers if you are looking for an even better deal. For more expensive items such as jewelry or furniture, prices tend to be higher than you might find elsewhere.

Tips For Bargaining In This Marketplace

Bargaining is a great way to get the most out of your shopping experience in the Swali Yenagoa Marketplace.

So below are few tips to assist you in the bargaining process
  • Be polite and patient: Bargaining can take some time, so don't be in a rush. Be friendly and polite to the shopkeepers; they will be more likely to work with you if they can tell you respect them.

  • Do your research: Knowing what the going rate is for certain goods can give you an idea of how much to expect to pay. Look online or ask locals what they usually pay for items to get a good idea of the current market price.

  • Don’t be afraid to walk away: If you feel like you’re not getting a good deal, don’t be afraid to walk away. This may encourage the shopkeeper to make you a better offer.

  • Don’t be afraid to haggle: Don’t settle for the first price the shopkeeper gives you, remember that bargaining is expected in this marketplace.

  • Have fun: Even if you don’t end up getting the best deal, remember that bargaining is a part of the shopping experience in this marketplace, enjoy yourself and have fun haggling.

  • Be aware of your surroundings: As with any marketplace, there is always a risk of theft or pickpocketing. Try to be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your valuables.

  • Avoid cheap knock-offs: There are many merchants selling counterfeit products at the Swali Yenagoa Marketplace. Make sure you research any product before buying it to ensure it’s genuine.

  • Don’t take deals that sound too good to be true: There will likely be some merchants who offer deals that seem too good to be true. Avoid these and stick with reputable vendors.

  • Avoid pushy sellers: Some merchants may try to pressure you into making a purchase. Don’t let them intimidate you and remember that you have the right to walk away from any deal you’re not comfortable with.

  • Check goods thoroughly before buying: Always check goods thoroughly before purchasing to make sure they are in good condition and meet your expectations.

By following these tips, you can make sure you have an enjoyable and safe experience at the Swali Yenagoa Marketplace.

The markets in general look similar, I see the images you share and they look similar to some areas of Bogota where there are markets like that. But as you say, you have to be very attentive to the offers, especially if they are too good because they could be a scam.
