Okay!! I heard you.

I received so many invites to this engagement challenge that I just had to enter, so here we go.

Hard work or smart work?

If you can find a needle in a haystack, you will be able to choose one above the other.

The difference between hard work and smart

Our minister once read Ecclesiastes 10:10 from the Bible to us. "If the axe is dull and he does not sharpen its edge, then he must exert more strength; but wisdom helps him succeed."

And this is exactly what the difference is between working hard and working smart. We can go out and cut down 20 trees today, but if we go out tomorrow, we will not be able to cut down 20 trees but less, and if we go out the next day, we will even cut less. This is due to one reason: we did not sharpen the blade of the axe after the first day.

Many people in life work hard, but only a few of them become successful. Why?

Maybe we got stuck with the saying, "The harder I work, the luckier I get" or our teacher telling us "Work hard, and success will be at your feet". What about your parents telling you that "Hard work pays off?"

Hard work is needed to take you where you want to be; it motivates you, shows your commitment, and teaches you self-discipline.

Smart work is using the correct strategy, being disciplined, being specific, having goal orientation, and managing time.

I do believe that the recipe for success is hard work = smart work

Hard work or smart work—which is better for boosting productivity?

For sure, smart work!

Hard work does not mean that you have to work physically hard all the time.

Take writing exams; there is not much physical work but a lot of mental work.

You can start firing away, starting with the first word and ending with the last word of the book, or you can take some time and be smart.

  • Why do I study?
  • What is my goal?
  • What can we do to improve my studies?
  • What can I do to get the most out of my studies?
  • What of the work do I understand?
  • What of the work don’t I understand?

Once you know the answers to these questions, you can start planning your studies, and you will be far more successful in reaching your end goal.

If I have to look at my own country and how we can boost productivity, it is not by putting more men in the field to work hard but only by working smart.

👉🏼Better education
👉🏼Better government policies
👉🏼Better technological development
👉🏼Enhanced infrastructure
👉🏼Reliable powersupply

You can get so much more done with less effort if you work smart.

Do I apply both activities to my work or not?

Yes! You have to work hard and smart in your work activities. What I have learned in life is that there are no shortcuts, not for hard work or for smart work. Hard work also never stops.

Let’s take one of my icons, Elon Musk.

There were weeks when he worked 120 hours. He even slept on the floor of the factory of SpaceX. Just by looking at him, you can see that he is always thinking ahead. He invested $100 million personally and gave the company three tries to launch their spacecraft. After the second try, he told his members of staff that he knew that it was going to be difficult as it is rocket science after all, and he also told them that "For my part, I will never give up and I mean never." (NBCnews.com)
The next day, all members of staff were back, not working harder but working smarter.

Elon Musk is a man who not only works hard but also smart.

In my own businesses, I use working hard as my stepping stone to success.

When I joined my partner in our last business, we had fewer than 100 clients. Through nursing them, spoon-feeding them, and constant follow-up, we slowly started to build a name for ourselves in the real estate market. It is a difficult market to compete in. I always said that if you think it is difficult to work with a car salesman, you have not worked with an estate agent. We also had to compete against companies like Property24 (Naspers, Tencent, and Prosus). By being smart, we had to stay one step ahead of them.

We were the first company to launch a mobile application for agents and the first to launch integration between the real estate office, the mortgage originator, and the financial institutions. We acquired deed data dated back to the 1800s and made it part of our offering.

Did we work hard? For sure, we did!

Did we work smart? Oh yes! We worked smart.

After more than 20 years of staying ahead of our competitors, we eventually sold our intellectual property to one of our competitors for the price we wanted and with a client base of over 2,000.

My advice is that hard work never stops, but by being smart, you can make your hard work count.

You convey a good understanding of the concept of hard work. Hard work does not necessarily mean physical work all the time ,but it also includes significant mental effort. For example, taking a writing test requires more mental work than physical work. It involves concentration, analysis and critical thinking.

In addition, achieving success in writing or other fields often requires intelligent mental effort. Starting with the first word and ending with the last word In a book is an example of creativity and clever thinking. Through the use of an intelligent mind, one can develop new ideas, create innovative solutions ,and achieve desired results.

So, hard work involves commitment and effort In the form of both physical and mental. Taking the time To be smart, to put your mind and intellectual abilities To good use, is an important part of achieving your desired goals. A smart combination of physical and mental effort will help a person to achieve success in various fields of life.Keep working hard, both physically and mentally, and tap into the potential of your mind To achieve the results you want.

Good luck.

Thank you for the visit and the engagement!
There is a saying that you are never too old to learn. I've changed it to "You are never too old to work hard and smart"

Saludos.

Your post is very detailed and nice, infact smart work was involved in preparing this post, what a nice post to read. Honestly while reading your post I was so excited, I didn't wanted to stop reading until I reached the end of the post.

Hard work can't be successful without a smart work, the both of them must work together in other to achieve something good. You can't also be very smart and you are lazy because you wouldn't succeed all else you have money to employ workers.

Am inspired by your post ma, I mentioned you in my entry for this contest, please drop a comment there.

Thank you for the kind words. Hard and Smart... the two sides to a coin. No matter what side comes up when you flip it you still need both sides to have a full coin!
PS: Hard and smart work on Steemit pays!

All what you just said are true ma, especially in the part where you said hard work and smart work in steemit pays. Have a nice day.

It sounds like you and your partner face many challenges building your business in the competitive real estate market. Starting with less than 100 clients and working diligently to build a reputation is no easy feat. Their dedication to nurturing and providing personalized attention to each client is commendable.

Thank you for the visit and the engagement.
With being in the business for more than 20 years I think we can write a book on the challenges we had to face.
Luckily by working hard and smart we made it!

That's wonderful to hear! Congratulations on your successful journey in the business world. Writing a book about your experiences and challenges can be a great way to share your knowledge, insights, and strategies with others who may be embarking on a similar path. It's an opportunity to inspire and guide aspiring entrepreneurs or professionals who are facing their own challenges.

Thanks for the invite friend I was actually looking forward to writing this contest today it’s just school work keeping me and I have a similar point to yours working smart is a strategic way of increasing productivity at every level of life. Smart work encompasses hard work and hard work without smart work is useless it’s more like they compliment each other… I think I’ll use this point in my post so stay tuned and I wish you good luck Friend

I am looking forward to you taking up the challenge.
There is always madness in my decision on who I am going to invite to take part. Somehow your name came up and now after reading your comment and just writing that you were busy with school work I cannot help to wonder if my invite and you participating is not a remind to slow down and to work smart.
Well, whatever it might be, good luck!

No doubt, I am over the moon to read one of your paragraphs when there is the proverb said, "Work hard and success will be at your feet". I do totally agree when we work hardly, InsyaaAllah the success will follow us & they will be at our feet. I personally believe that in this case when we work hard then we do not forget to work smartly, too. From long time ago, I highly appreciate when I look at someone or found some people try to work hard & smart in their life, even if just a small job & they start it from zero furthermore to be hero.

All a good du'a for you, my dearest friend 🥰💖
Wish you lots of luck 🤗

You are so right! Often by working hard working smart happens automatically. It's funny how life works. You often only need to give the one thing to receive the other.
Thanks for the visit and your beautiful comment! 🎕
Happy weekend!
