MY WORST EXPERIENCE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR| 25% payout to @steemkindness| by @niglys8

Hello great steemit entrepreneurs! Today I will be sharing with you "My Worst Experience As An Entrepreneur" Being an entrepreneur is more like being your own boss. Entrepreneurship has it's enjoyable and challenging moments. But I must say, when the challenging moments are handled properly, it builds and makes the business to even stand stronger.

I am Nigly, a smartphone graphics designer. I create amazing designs like flyers, logos, business cards, letterheads banners and infact I create all kinds of graphics designs.
Being a smartphone graphics designer has given me so many challenges; like clients underestimating the creativity of my work and refusing to pay the amount charged because it's done with a mobile phone, sometimes clients do not bother to go through my design catalogue to see how amazing my designs are and when my service fee is given they tend to cut down the service fee. This has being a top challenge for me but being consistent and persuasive is gradually bringing my business to where it should be and I'll keep pushing because I'm unstoppable. Hahaha!

My worst experience as an entrepreneur

Sometime around June, I saw an post on my church singles facebook group for every interested entrepreneur to advertise his business and also drop contact as well for easy access incase someone needs your services, so I gave it a shot and boom I got a client!
My client chatted me on whatsapp and told me he needed a logo design for his car sales and transport business, after making some enquiries about his business and dropping my catalog link for him to view my work samples. My service fee of N5000 was given to him but he made a price negotiation because the price was too much for him, and after an agreement of N3000 service fee, I was ready to commence his work.

Below are the screenshots of our whatsapp chat

After about 3 days later, I delivered the logo as a jpg file and explained the concept of his logo to him and also asked him to let me know if he wants me to make adjustments. My client was so impressed with his logo design, but requested for an image that depicts his business name "PEAGASUS" to be added

And after some clarifications I gave to him we reached an agreement for the adjustment on the logo.

I tirelessly worked on the adjustment to suit his taste because the logo would have looked too complicated with the whole horse or peagasus image on it. So I had to carefully be creative and when the logo was ready to be delivered I requested for my service fee to be paid into my account. And that was where the whole challenge started.

Normally I always insist that clients pay in at least 50% of my service fee before I start their designs but because I got this particular client from my church facebook group I decided to give him a preferential treatment hoping that he will comply

But my expectations failed me because he started giving me false excuses and even went further to change his phone number as seen in the screenshots above.

How I handled my challenge

As heartbreaking as it was, I forgot about the business deal because from his excuses I found out he wasn't serious about getting a logo design for his business. And besides, he never got the edited logo design he requested for.

The lessons I grabbed from my experience

Giving equal treatment to everyone that comes to patronize you should be a top rule for every entrepreneur. Giving preferential treatments to your close or loved pals will only turn your business to a play ground. Being very strict with this rule would have made me have nothing to loose in return.

This experience was not funny at all. In this life it is always the people you repose trust and confidence on that will always hurt and cheat you the most. Imagine trusting him in the name of God and church member but he betrayed the trust. Quite unfortunate. Thank God you were able to bounce back
