Hello Steemians today, I want to share with you how palm oil is made.

Palm oil is the number one most important ingredients that is used in the world, it's is used in cooking of foods like soup and also used in making of shampoo, coffee creamer and toothpaste.

Palm oil is gotten from the from the fruit of palm tree, which is normally found in Africa and Asia countries. The production of palm oil starts with the seeds that is gotten from Palm oil tree. The palm oil seed/fruits that is gotten from the tree do passes some process before the oil can be release out. However, after visiting one of the local palm oil mill in my area came to know the stages/process that is used in releasing palm oil. So without wasting time let's look at some of the processes.

Based on my interview at the local oil mill, I was told that the first step is to cut off the palm oil from the tree using tools or machetes once it's mature. The fruits of the palm are usually collected by hand and transferred to the oil mill. I was told by one of the worker at the oil mill that during process of collecting the fruits if the person isn't careful enough the person can be injure (bruise).

At this point before, I continue let's look at the process/stages used in releasing palm oil below.

At the local oil mill that I visited, the first step is the cooking of the palm fruits. This process/stage is done by selecting the palm fruits and put it inside a big pot (depends on the quantity) and cook it until it get soft/done.

The second, after cooking the palm fruits, the fruits will then pass through sterilizing process.

After the sterilizing process, the next process is threshing, this is the process that separate the fruits from the palm Kernel. At the palm oil mill that I visited this process is carryout by placing the palm fruits in drum that is rotary.

After the threshing process, the next process is that is saw at the oil mill was pressing the fruits so the so the oil can be sperate from the pill and skin. This particular process is what these two men on the image below are doing.

After pressing and separating the fruits from the oil the stage process was cooking the oil which I called refining process. This process is to make sure that there is no harmful object or substances in the oil.

And finally, after finishing the all the processes above, the next is packaging and usages. Most of the palm oil that are produced in this local mill are being exported to the northern part of of Nigeria.

Thank you for your time here. It's always my precious to have you here, so feel free to points out errors and share your idea/experiences in oil production with me

Best Regards

I've heard a lot of opinions that the quality of palm oil that is processed traditionally is of better quality than the processing at the factory. I hope it's true
