When and why is International Nurses Day celebrated?
In Nigeria here international nursing day is celebrated 12th may every year, which means this year it was celebrated on Sunday 12 may 2024.

Why is international nurses day celebrated?

There are so many reasons why nurses day should be celebrated, the following are the reasons....

• recognition of nurses, which is very important because for some one who take care for the sick, disable, and injured ones should be recognize by people in the society for their good works.
• For purpose of making them feel special and encourage them in their works.
• It serves as a reminder of the important roles they play in our home, community, country in improving the health experience of the patient or sick ones,so as to make them healthy and strong
• also the opportunity to appreciate and acknowledge the efforts the nurses, also in memory of florence Nightingale who is known as the mother of modern nursing, which her effort and contribution to nursing will never be forgotten so easily
• Promotion of worldwide unity amongst nursing groups, of that's to say it brings nurses together to share different ideas and skills.

If you get a chance to serve the community as a nurse in a situation like Covid-19, would you do it?

To be sincere I will not because accept, me as a whole I don't like staying close to sick and infected person because I feel like I will get infected too, likewise to blood and injured person I don't like seeing it, that to say I can't work in health center not to talk of been a nurse to serve the community or country in situation like covid-19, to be sincere nurses are playing good role in our community today and deserve more than respect

Have you ever been taken care from a nurse in a hospital ?

This is a question that almost every body will give yes as the answer, same to here I have taken treatment from a nurse in a hospital times without number that is to say many times mostly when I got injured, what I observe was how they take time to treat you and even pet you assive they are the one that injured you or they are the cause of your sickness, they are just like mother to everyone because of the dedication most of them have for their jobs all what I can say now is that the country can't do without the nurses.
