Climate Change

Climate change was always one interesting topic that was never left untouched, our teachers created awareness on the effect of climate change and how well we can avoid them. This has helped people to address man made issues which results to the change in climate.

Human activities has contributed a lot to changes in our climate system, everyday industrial activities and the burning of fossil fuels has depleted the ozone layer and also cause harmful substance in the atmosphere. I would love to explain Climate Change according to the word is a change in climate which can be temperature or weather.

We are currently experiencing climate change and I'm sure you all have noticed that, the harmattan season in my country usually fall around the November, December and January period and sometimes extends to February but due to change in climate, all these changed and we were not able to predict the weather.

The harmattan season shifted to late December but it was just a mild one. This farming season which on a normal is always visited by rain is now facing heat from the sun. This is one of the harmful effects of climate change, destruction of crops and not adequate yield.

• Destruction of crops: Climate change has really messed up a lot with how the crops grow and yield fruits, plants don't need only sunlight they also need water for their growth, since the planting season started many areas haven't received their precipitation which is very abnormal in a planting season. The harvest won't be great as usual due to climate change.

• Increased Temperature: This increase in temperature has made people feel so uncomfortable to sleep or even walk down the street, the temperature looks so hot and severe and it hits.

• Increased Precipitation: During the climate change we also experience a non stop precipitation which falls heavily for hours, causing floods and droughts.

One of the main reasons which we are familiar with that causes global warming is the burning of fossil fuels and also from the carbon monoxide from vehicles and industries. These fumes when it reaches the atmosphere attacks the ozone layer and causes its depletion which means that more ultraviolet rays can come in, that's why it is advised to plant enough green trees to keep the ecosystem stable.

• Deforestation: This factor has contributed severely to global warming, the trees needs sunlight and they capture part of the light rays that comes from the sun, what if these green plants are no available where will the rays go?. Tree's play a very important role in the ecosystem, that's why the government encourages the planting of trees, they say if you cut one down plant two.

• Vehicles and machines: It seems that for most of the innovations they come with an effect, the deep black fumes/smiles that comes out of vehicle exhaust find their way up to the sky and their work is to attack the atmosphere wich doesn't sound good.

• Industries: Industries or companies during production let out a bounty amount of waste to the atmosphere which contributes to global warming and depletion of the ozone, these waste products include chemicals which are harmful.

As I mentioned earlier, climate change has affected agriculture greatly. From my experience, during this period we do experience a number of rainfalls which we are happy to see and knowing fully well that our crops will grow properly and rich in nutrients, but due to climate change since the farmers planted their crops some areas haven't seen rainfall, it is just a sunny day throughout and the crops are already waiting to see the rain.

Climate change has affected agriculture, the yield amount will not be same as last year due to the change in climate, the yield will be lesser. We can see some of the plants going yellowish which means lack of nutrients for them.

Creating awareness here on steemit will help many people to be aware of the dangers of climate change and how well they can curb or reduce it. I delivered a message about planting of trees or green plants which will help keep a stable ecosystem, this small move is very important. The heat usually experienced in deserts are very high, but areas with trees and green plants won't hold so much heat.

Planting of green crops in my garden is also a little step I take to make sure that I protect the I'll effect of climate change.
