Hi, thank you @pathanapsana for the contest.

When and why is International Nurses Day celebrated?

May 12th is an important date to all nurses, as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. Therefore each year that passes by has a theme to tag the celebration, and this year theme happen to be:(Our nurses. Our future. The economic power of care) In January 1974, this day was finally officially made International Nurses Day. Each year since then, the internationa councel of Nurses(ICN) prepares and distributes something called the International Nurses’ Day Kit which contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.

International Nurses Day has been created so that we can pay honor and tribute to all of the nurses around the world and the incredible work they do. It is crazy to think about a world without nurses. Who would be there to care for us when we’re not feeling well? Nurses bring so much to our lives, and the lives of the people that we love, and so it is only right that we have a day that honors them and recognizes all of their efforts!

Nurses have a very varied role and they are responsible for a number of different things in the workplace. This includes writing care plans for patients, assisting with evaluations and tests, setting up blood transfusions and drips, checking and administering drugs and injections, observing and recording the condition of patients. They will also maintain patient records, mentor junior and student nurses, organise staff, and reassure patients and their relatives. This merely scratches the surface! From responding quickly to emergencies to planning hospital discharges and carrying out routine investigations, the list goes on! Nurses certainly have a huge role to play when it comes to the health and wellbeing of people all around the world.

What do you think about the nurse in your heart?

I think of a nurse as a caring, compassionate and hard working personality, just as the anthem implies we're called to serve humanity and the full meaning of NURSE (Noble-Understanding-Responsibility-Sympathy-Efficient). So therefore they encompasses all aspects of promoting health, preventing diseases, and providing care to the sick and dying patients.

If you get a chance to serve the community as a nurse in a situation like Covid-19, would you do it?

Yes I will, because nursing is a call to serve humanity regardless of status or diagnosis. Just that standard precautions will be applied to ensure safety and to prevent outbreak if diseases, and this comes with providing personal protective Equipment (PPE) for more safety.

Have you ever taken health care from a nurse in a hospital? If so, how was your experience?

Yes I've had an encounter with a nurse in a hospital before, my experience was a pleasant one cause, the nurse gave in his best to ensure I'm fine. He comes at the right time to carryout all his duties and spoke to me politely and gently, that alone pose a great deal on my Mental health and my wellness entirely
