I thought a higher income meant being more wealthy! I was wrong.
I always thought that the only reason I'm not wealthy is because my income was almost nonexistent, I was back at the time still getting pocket money from my father and it was a very humble one, and I was certain that once I have more money I'll automatically become wealthy.
When I got my first job, my income was multiplied 7 times!! So, I was making 7x what I was making before, but very quickly money started fading away, and I was surprised that I never came to the end of a month while having as little as 2 dollars, I even had to borrow money just to make ends meet!
Then, I moved to another job that paid me a 25% higher income, now I'm making even more money, but I was also amazed that my expenses are increasing accordingly, I'm eating outside more often, buying more clothes, etc....
Everything I've said already isn't very shocking, but will you believe me if I said that my third job paid me 6x what I made just with the previous one?
At this point I was making an amount of money that only 15% of the entire country I live in make, I was making unbelievably substantial amounts of money for someone who's just 22 years old.
The shocking part is; in most cases I ran out of money before I get my next salary, and I got into debt because I bought things that I couldn't afford.
The point is; I was wrong, making more money doesn't mean you'll automatically become wealthier, to become wealthy you need to do budgeting, you need to save money, you need to invest, and most importantly: you need to control your desires.
You need to have ability of buying something but choosing not to, and thinking with a long-term vision rather than just focusing on the moment.
Wealth creation requires much more things than making money, but as we say here in Egypt: "No one learns for free"
