Education as we know is the cornerstone to growth in every country. Through education, skills, knowledge, and habits are acquired by various means, like training and teaching. Education provides the necessary tools for individuals to develop their critical thinking, solve problems and make sound decisions.

In this post, I’ll be taking us through the significance of education, how we classify education and many other interesting sub topics.

Let me quickly invite @mandate, @caramella and @de-creata to participate in this contest.

Why education is significant in our lives?

source

Apart from the informal way of learning, education has played a significant role in our day to day lives. For instance, we can read, write and communicate effectively to people around the world, it’s education that made that possible. If not, we’d be speaking our native dialects alone, and that would have caused a language barrier when communicating with the outside world.

Education gives us the ability to think critically and provide solutions. It goes beyond just memorizing to pass your exams or assessment in school. For example, at workplace, you will be face with challenges that will make you to think outside the box to move your company forward. It takes critical thinking to make you give informed decisions.

Education is the only thing that can open windows of opportunity for you at different levels of career. In fact, before you are employed in any corporate firm, a certain level of test is given to you to check your I.Q or your skill. The more you learn and the more you specialized on your skills, the more valuable you become in the workforce.

With the advent of technology, education has now crossed beyond borders. We learn from different part of the country in order to gain more knowledge and give you a competitive advantage over others.

How do you classify education? Describe.

Growing up, we were taught that we have 3 classification of education and they’re formal, informal and non formal education.

  • Informal education:

Informal education is an unstructured form of learning. Learning is a life long process and gotten from family, workplace, culture and traditions, experiences. learning is done at your own pace and don’t need any exact time to learn. It plays a crucial role in personal development and societal advancement.

  • Formal education

Unlike informal education, formal education is a structured system of learning, whereby curriculum are made by educational boards for students to learn from. Formal education follow a structured progression. For instance, learning starts from primary, then you progress to secondary and then finally the university level.

  • Non-formal education:

This form of education is what bridges the gap between formal and informal education. It is actually structured but doesn’t follow traditional system of education that we know. It’s target market are for specific people like the adults, the skilled and the unskilled workers. Ways education is disseminated is mostly through online, given people a flexible time to learn whenever they want. Education is people driven and voluntarily.

Do you believe besides institutional education, we have a lot of other educations that are equally essential? Justify your answer.

source

For me, I will say institutional education has its limitations because it focuses more on the textbooks or curriculum been given by the education board. In other forms of education, there is no limitation to what you can learn. You can wake up one day and decide to follow your passion, read about it online and excel.

You gain practical or hands on experience from either your coach or mentor. This are skills you can’t get in our traditional education. All this skills and experience you gain from other forms of education are what see you through in life.

The world is constantly evolving and it’s very hard for institutional education to keep pace with the current challenges. But engaging in other forms of education allow us to be updated on the current trend in our field, thereby deepening our understanding and enhancing our competence in real life situations.

According to you, which education carries more value in life? Describe.

source

I don’t think I can discredit any of them. They all place high value in our lives. We are what we are now because of the roles of formal, informal and non-formal education had played in shaping our future. For instance, formal education provides us with the tools to get a good job and start earning. With non-formal education, you can further push your career by learning online with a flexible schedule of your choice while you’re still working. This way, you give yourself a fighting chance at windows of opportunity in workplaces.

Informal education on the other hand gives us lifelong skills to survive the world out there and to be at the top of your game. Learning new things keeps your mind sharp, fosters creativity, and broadens your horizons to make informed choices. Through life experiences, you can can develop soft skills like been a team player, improving on your communication skills and adapting to any challenges you find yourself.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the world we enjoy today is as a result of education. No one can do without it because even if you say you can’t learn the formal way, you still have the informal way that will either teach you the hard way or the easy way given you an experience. The life we live is a learning process and the world is our platform.
