Technological advancement has woven deep into the society and has become an important part of our lives. The daily use of it cannot be ignored nor swept under the carpet. However, there are some effects associated with its use.

TECHNOLOGY HAS HAMPERED OUR NATURAL THOUGHT PROCESS, HOW TRUE?

It is indeed correct, the emergence of these technological devices has in one way or the other impaired our thinking process and some of our brain functions. We have become so used to, and addicted to these technological tools that some of its harmful effects has escaped our conscious eyes.
Some of the ways technology has hampered our thinking process would be in the aspect of;

1. CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY-

As a result of advanced technology, individuals has become overly dependent on it to do everything for them including analysis and basic evaluation of some certain things. Little cognitive functions like calculations, composition of essays and so on are now done by the computers, AIso, and calculators.The brain has now become dull and unable to critically think and analyze some basic things on its own due to our daily use of these advanced technologies.

2. MEMORY-

Individual now have short memory span and are unable to remember some little informations due to the consciousness that we can easily look it up on Google, or check our phone and so on. The amount of information available on the web has decreased our memory capacity and our ability to remember informations.

A study was carried out on two sets of students typing on a computer. One set was told that the computer would automatically save their work. While the other set was told that the computer would not save their work. When they were asked some of the content of what they types in the computer. The set, that the computer did not save their work remembered more of what they wrote than the other set.

3. MENTAL HEALTH-

Due to the kind of things available on the media, people living fake life, claiming to be who they are not, and more. The mental health of an individual can be affected. People now easily become depressed or worried due to the pressure that comes from the social media. Mental health issues like depression, anxiety and the likes are now associated with over 95% of individuals in the society.

4. SOCIAL ISOLATION-

Technology which is supposed to connect people more and improve communication has done the opposite. It has made individuals, especially the younger generation to become socially isolated in the real world. You see young people so busy with their phones or gadgets that they barely have time to interact or communicate with those around them. Their communication skills has become under developed and we end up seeing individual's who are anti social and unable to properly communicate with others.

5. SLEEP DISRUPTION

The lights emitted from screens like, phones, computers and television can inhibit the activation of the sleep hormone that induces sleep. Also, advance technological tools can keep us alert with the numerous distractions, and interesting things available on the net. which can deprive someone of sleep which is very essential in the development of an individuals natural thought process.

IS TOTAL DEPENDANCE ON ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY GOOD OR BAD? GIVE YOUR REASONS?

Absolute dependence on these advance technology is very bad and can ruin a person both physically, emotionally, mentally and health wise. Individuals should indulge the frequent use of their intellect to engage the brain as this will help develop their thinking faculty.

When one depends entirely on technology, it can affect the persons ability to be independent. It can also cause some health issues like eye disorder or insomnia. It can result to anxiety and depression also. These and so many more are reasons why we should not totally rely on advanced technology.

ARE YOU IN SUPPORT OR AGAINST THE USAGE OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY?

I believe the usage of advanced technology is very good and should be adopted by individuals all over the world. However, I remain in my stand, that all things should be kept in moderation. In as much as advanced technology is good, it also has its bad side or disadvantages. Therefore, individuals should not over use it. People should learn to mix advance technological tools with normal simple reasoning and communication skills in their application of everyday life.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

Let's look at some of the advantages of these advanced technology;

• It gives us an easy access to information and data
• It has enabled easy and more better way of communicating with one another
• It has helped increase productivity and save labour
• It has helped in better system of transport
• It has helped in the advancement of the health industries world wide
• It has enabled a modern and easy system of banking, making distance an insignificant barrier.
  
  

DISADVANTAGES

Some of the disadvantages of technology include;

• The development of several technological tools has led to accidents both domestic and likewise
• Important data and information can no longer be kept confidential as it can easily be hacked.
• Cyber bullying and crime is now the order of the day
• It can cause some health issues like insomnia.
• It has caused unemployment as only little human labour is needed in this modern times.
