Zomato: Cash-on-Delivery Scam

in Incredible Indialast year (edited)
This recent "Zomato" scam is sensation allover internet but no one is posting anything regarding this in steemit, so I'm posting this.

An entrepreneur and user of the meal delivery app Zomato recently published his experience on LinkedIn about how a delivery guy discussed a strategy to cheat and operate a scam that is costing Zomato a significant amount of money.

Vinay Sati said in a post on LinkedIn that learning about the Zomato scam gave him "goosebumps." In response to the man's message, Deepinder Goyal, the founder and CEO of Zomato, wrote: "Be aware of this. working to close the gaps ".

Here's how the deliveryman explained to Mr. Vinay Sati how to order food while simultaneously costing Zomato money

Mr. Vinay Sati placed a restaurant order for some hamburgers and paid for them online. But when the delivery man arrived at his house, an unexpected incident happened.

The delivery person advised Vinay to choose cash on delivery rather than making an online payment for his order. When Vinay questioned the delivery person about the situation, the latter responded that if the order was for Rs 700 or Rs 800, Vinay would only be responsible for paying Rs 200. How? Even if they gave it to the user, the delivery person would demonstrate that the order had not been delivered. The Zomato delivery boy can then pay the delivery person directly a little payment of Rs 200 or Rs 300 in lieu of paying the firm.

Now, "The delivery person warned me sir, don't pay online next time as soon as he arrived after 30 to 40 minutes. He responded, "Why?" The next time you order meals through COD for Rs 700–800 or more, he claimed you will only have to pay Rs 200 for it.

He said, "I will prove to Zomato that you didn't take the food, and I'll also deliver the food you requested. Ap bas mujhe 200, 300, de dena or 1000 rupees ke khane ke maje lena" (you can just pay me Rs 200 or Rs 300 and enjoy food worth Rs 1000).

Vinay felt bad for "Zomato" so he posted the incident in Linkedin and in a short time, the post got the attention of Mr. Deepinder Goyal CEO of Zomato.

Deepinder Goyal followed up by reassuring everyone that the team is aware of these occurrences and is working to resolve the problem.
