When it comes to matters about experience and maturity, many with different perceptions comes into play. Some view experience as been shaped by age,"time pass", while some on the other hand sees it as being shaped by situations, challenges and circumstances. What really molds us? Let talk about this interesting topic.

What does maturity really mean?
Maturity is simply an attribute that describes a person having wisdom, and a proper understanding about life. It is also an attribute that comes with responsibility, understanding, ability to make personal decisions and resilience. Maturity can be determined either by age or by circumstances.

Normally, many often sees age as a "natural" factor that determines experience and maturity. As a person advances in age, he or she acquires abundance of memories and challenges. This could be personal or otherwise. These challenges becomes a teacher, and the person learns from the success and failures, which shapes his or her perspective about life it's self.
I'll take the profession of a baker for an example, who has spent years in perfecting his baking skills. Scaling through years of success and failures, the baker perfects his skills, learning how to combine ingredients in the perfect ratio and heat temperature of ovens to produce a perfect bake. This has testified to the idea that continuous practice with "time passage" has lead to better understanding and experience in the field.

Experience and maturity doesn't depend only on time passage (age). Circumstances also plays a crucial role in shaping our experience in life. Scaling through tough times gives us a better insight about life. I'll take another example of two young individuals of age 16, and from different backgrounds. One growing up in a tough, poor and struggling environment, in which each passing day is a struggle. While the other, growing up in a cool, rich and quiet environment, where everything needed, is provided without going through stress. We will all agree that their different environment will surely influence their perception about life, which will shape their experience and Maturity.

My Experience

With time spent, my encountered challenges has really changed my perception about everything. Being able to cope with adulthood, came out of my early adversities while growing up from the age of 14. I didn't grow in an environment where all i needed was made available, I had to move out to help myself. This has made me matured, resilient and strong over these few years of my life. Now, i'm taking full responsibility of my self and actions, making decisions on my own, now at the age of 23.
Life is made up circumstances and challenges. I see them as teachers. To survive, we have to pass through them. As we scale through them, we pick up principles that shapes who we are.

Can older people learn from the youths?

Yes!! I believe the older once can learn from we the youths. The advancement of technology. We the youths have gained much experience on technology, than the older once. We are seen as the early adopters of new tech. We can teach these older once how to use the social media, latest gadgets and new technologies. As trends are frequently updated, the older once can learn new trends and attitudes from we the youths.

Conclusion

In conclusion, age(time) and circumstances, works hand in hand in shaping experience. Time allows for the gathering of lessons, while circumstances builds our understanding of life from these lessons.
