Technology and man is now inseparable as we can't do without technology in our every day life. Technology has been around for more than 3. 3 million years ago. The term was derived from the Greek word 'techne' and originated from the Greeks. As time went by, it spread to us. There has been so many advances on technology which we appreciate as humans unlike before when we had to do things manually. Technology has made inroads to agriculture, architecture, engineering, education and so on. What then is technology?

It therefore follows that technology is the application of knowledge which we have learned on specific areas, making then relate to man and the society. We all appreciate technology and that is why we are even here on steemit. It is making our lives easier and less complicated. But then, it is at the same time not making us to make use of our perceptive powers and reasonings. I will write more on this as I give attention to the points of the contest.

I like the use of the word 'somehow' and with this word, I totally agree that technology has somehow hampers our natural thought process but not completely though. But it all depends on some factors like the age at which we use it, the attention we give it, the reason for it's use and the control we have over it.

Age

We all know that kids need to develop their learning, assimilation and thinking processes. They need to make use of their thinking abilities. But if we expose them a lot to the use of technology (though it depends of how much and which one they are exposed to), it will surely hamper their thought process before you know it. They will become lazy in doing things on their own and may even lost interest in life before you know it. The reason is because, we humans take pride in what we can be able to accomplish on our own which is usually limited by the use of technology. This keeps us happy and going. Whereas the reverse is the case when we are so much exposed to technology especially at early stages of our lives

Attention

Giving too much attention to technology can rob us of other things we would have done manually. It as well hinders good relationships especially that of family and friends. But this depends on the type of technology we are exposed to. For instance, if we give too much attention to games that are technically built, we could be ignoring family members who are not part of that game and who may want to be with us but our minds are long gone. We could be ignoring our own duties and may not even think out the best possible ways to carry them out except the ones that technology presents to us. For instance, the traffic light is meant to change colors and directions every 5 minutes or thereabout. Imagine if there is no upcoming vehicle on the side of the road that are shown green and is directed to move and the other side of the road is connected with waiting vehicles. Ordinarily, human thinking process should come into play that side of the road should move even if the traffic light has not changed. But no, everyone will have to wait until the traffic light changes direction.

Reason for it's use

Some use the technology to advance their I'll motives. They use it to kill and to steal and other vile things. Ignoring their own thinking process and moral values that are inbuilt in them.

Control

Some persons are no longer in control of their technological devices. They choose to just flow with the current. They no longer pay attention to what is happening around them. This has caused more harm than good. Imagine one who decides to play music, using earpiece, then no longer knows what is happening besides the music. Imagine walking on the road with such on our ears and the understand what could happen to them. This is just one out of millions of examples of what could happen with such device on our ears.

Therefore, I feel technology has somehow hampers our thought process.

We are created with the ability to reason. Because it is a gift, it is wise that we use it, thereby making the one who gave it to us happy and as well bringing happiness to ourselves and those around us.

We should be in control by using our own thought process to control the technology that we have around us and not letting those control us. We can only be reduced to a puppet if we entirely depend on technology. We need to have the control of it rather than depending entirely on them.

Therefore, we should not depend entirely on technology. Technology should just be a means to an end, helping us to fully actualize the full potential of our thought process.

I am supporting the use of it but not entirely depending on it because no matter how we want to take it, we can't do without technology in our lives. The mobile devices we use, the building we live in, the solar system, the clothing we put on and even the food we eat this time around are all products of technology. I advocate it's use but there should be a control. We should be able to make use of our thought process in choosing the ones to use wisely in other not to be carried here and there by the advancement in technology because they keep evolving even now and then. There is always the latest and always going for the latest will make us to live a life of slavery even without knowing it.

For instance, always going for the latest designs of building without considering factors like the cash outlay, the changing taste, the durability of the materials and so on can lead us to a bad choice that will leave us frustrated in life.

Share the advantages and disadvantages of advanced technologies. .

Advantages

Time saving. Duties are accomplished in no time. And time is money. So for most organizations, they prefer the use of technology.

Stress-free duties. Over thinking on how to accomplish duties on our own can add to our stress which is not usually good for our health as humans. So technology has co.e to relief us of some stress which is good.

	advancement in technology has made laptops available to us which makes writing easier and stress-free.

Disadvantages

• Hampers our thought process. We can't think out anything on our own like the use of calculator to solve mathematical problems. We become fearful of numbers when we depend solely on these machines

• Low Self-esteem due to lack of accomplishment. We thrive more on our accomplishments but if machines accomplish those tasks, then, we have low self esteem

• Renders man useless. In a situation where robots are employed in an establishment, humans will be redundant and eventually loose their jobs.

Conclusion

So far so good, I have been able to establish the fact that technology somehow and not completely hampers our thought process. We need technology in our everyday lives but over dependent on them can hamper our thought process.

I have also shared some advantages and disadvantages of technology.
