Environmental pollution is increasing day by day and causing severe damage to the environment, which has a great impact on all living beings on Earth.

What are the three significant reasons behind environmental pollution? Describe.

The three significant reasons behind environmental pollution are:

Industrialisation: The first and foremost reason for environmental pollution is industrialization. It's polluting the environment since the start of the industrial revolution, that is since 1765. Industries create all three types of pollution, i.e. air pollution, water pollution, and soil pollution.

Transportation: Due to the increase in transportation our environment is being polluted every second. The air quality of many cities has become so worse that many people are having breathing issues and many other kinds of diseases.

Due to transportation, the air gets polluted through the smog released by vehicles and planes. And, as the quality of air gets worse, the oxygen we inhale from the air is also contaminated. So, many health issues are arising due to it.

The Agro-Chemical: Nowadays, in agricultural activities, many chemicals are being used like, pesticides, for better crops and for keeping insects and animals away from crops. But, these chemicals are affecting and polluting the soil.

These are the three significant reasons behind environmental pollution.

How can we prevent environmental pollution?

There are many things we can do to prevent environmental pollution. They are:

1. While traveling a short distance: One can choose to walk or ride a bicycle. This way we are even saving on fuel, maintaining healthy habits, and contributing to a pollution-free environment.
2. Use Eco-friendly transportation: Shifting from fuel or energy-consuming vehicles to electric vehicles.
3. Plant more trees and built more parks than buildings.
4. Managing waste: Managing waste properly can contribute a lot to a pollution-free environment. Keeping a separate dustbin for the waste that can be recycled and the waste that can’t be recycled.
5. Keep your vehicles in good condition and keep getting the servicing done from time to time.
6. Say no to plastic bags: Carry your own paper bags while going to buy groceries or vegetables.
7. Shifting from sanitary pads to menstrual cups as cups are environmentally friendly.

Impact of Environmental Pollution on Humans: Environmental pollution affects the physical health of humans. Mostly it affects the respiratory system, and the issues like asthma, infections, and allergies are commonly found where the air quality of the city is highly polluted like New York and Delhi two top cities with worse air quality index.

Impact of Environmental Pollution on Animals and Plants: Environmental pollution causes acid rain which affects both animals and plants. Acid rain makes the sea and river water toxic for the fishes and underwater animals. And, many plants and trees are destroyed by acid rain.

Even air pollution affects animals and plants as the quality of the atmosphere degrades it creates breathing and lung issues in animals and respiration issues in plants.

Have you ever taken part to keep your environment clean?

I haven’t taken part in cleanup campaigns, but I do keep my environment clean. I never throw waste outside on streets or roads, in-fact I keep them in my bag and throw it when I see a dustbin.

I would like to say that if every one of us considers this whole earth as our own home and do our responsibilities as they at our own home, the whole environment will be a better place to live. Like disposing of all the waste properly, don’t throw anything in streets or roads, and don’t spill and pee anywhere.
