What is your preference while making decisions, heart or mind?

When it has to do with life's decisions, finding ourselves at the crossroads of heart and mind is somewhat inevitable. But as a devout Christian, I mostly rely on my heart for guidance firstly because I believe that as Christians, our spirit is one with God and there has been countless times I trusted my instincts for guidance and it failed me woefully. So, my heart is my best bet.

In my own life's journey, I have experienced countless moments of divine clarity just by following the leading of my heart. I mean, who doesn't like peace 😔

Do you think we need both in terms of making decisions? Describe reasons.

While my prefer the heart for guidance, I also know the importance of syncing both heart and mind in the decision-making. This is because, the mind roams around the advantages and disadvantages of an action before settling for a course. In other words, it analyses the consequence of an act and the mind if perfectly used side by side, offers valuable result.

The heart is prune to believing everything but the mind goes through lots of critical thinking before coming to a conclusion.

In practical terms, I wish I could strike a balance between my heart and the reasoning of mind. This is a tough one for most people and I really applaud the few that has this ability. Everybody needs this because While the heart points towards one direction, the mind could help navigate some practical considerations and potential consequences of one decisions by asking questions like: What's the best that can come out of this or, what's the worst that can happen? Now, as humans, when the best outweighs the worst, we are most likely to move on with a decision and that's what an analytical life comprises.

So, by embracing both heart and mind, we endeavor to make decisions that are not only aligned with our spiritual values but also grounded in wisdom.

Are you an emotional or a practical person in real life?

Well, based on my temperament, I can say it over and over again that I am an emotional person by nature. This is because I often find myself guided by empathy, compassion, and intuition in my interactions and decision-making. Not so comfortable with this because emotions can sometimes cloud judgment, but that's who I am.

Do you have any suggestions for youth which one they should follow in their day-to-day lives?

For the youth embarking on their own journey of self-discovery and decision-making, I have the following suggestions:

There isn't a one way fits it all way to life so, in whatever you do,

  • Seek Spiritual Guidance:
Cultivating a deep relationship with God and seeking his guidance through prayer is key.

  • Embrace Emotional Intelligence:
Trusting your emotions could be credible but developing emotional intelligence to navigate them effectively is more credible. So, I suggest that youths learn to recognize their emotions in order to make informed decisions.

  • Integrate Heart and Mind:
Another reason why I mentioned that there isn't a perfect way to go around life. In everything, I suggest that youths sync both heart and mind in their decision-making process.

  • Seek Wise Counsel:
Surround yourself with mentors, and trusted confidants who can offer guidance and perspective from both heart and mind all every needed time.

In conclusion

Here a brief way I go around life, I place my trust in the light of my heart, trusting it for every spiritual truth. I also acknowledge the importance of integrating both heart and mind in decision-making and this challenge has opened me up to how much change this can bring and this, I will take up henceforth.

Thank you for reading💝

I also wish to invite @cinnymartins, @jaywise and @juec to participate in this challenge.
