I doubt they were already insane as a child..being a genius, high intelligent is still unnoticed, unlikee and one lives a lonesome life. I can understand it is more bearable if there's something to focus on even if no one likes it. Focus easily turns into obsession.
Who knows it is part of the DNA to change into what others call a fruitcake. What would happen if they are understood and all their contacts are the same?
If it comes to something on the edge being attractive it only counts for a part of the people. Most feel more safe in their comfort zone where everything remains the same no matter how boring it is.
I even doubt all art collectors truly like what they bought or the art spoke to them.
I would say otherwise. They're not crazy or insane. They're just different.
There is a concept of "norms" in society. That's the whole point. But there is no such thing in nature. It's just that it's more convenient for a person to explain the incomprehensible.
What is on the edge attracts everyone's attention, but not everyone is ready to go far into this interest. You are right to say that there is a comfort zone, and we have been accustomed to such a zone since childhood, imposing restrictions on freedom in everything. We are taught "proper" behavior, and certain benefits are promised for this. Our freedom (given by birth) is simply being bought.
I can't say anything about collectors. But there are definitely people with deep knowledge of the issue of their topic. At the same time, there are more ordinary "consumers" who care about a certain status. For some, it's a matter of following fashion or something else. But there are cool specialists. I want to believe it)

Я бы сказал иначе. Они не сумасшедшие и не безумцы. Они просто другие.
В социуме существует понятие "нормы". В этом всё дело. Но в природе такого понятия нет. Просто человеку так удобнее объяснять непонятное.
То, что на грани, привлекает внимание всех, но не каждый готов пойти в этом интересе далеко в глубь. Ты правильно говоришь, есть зона комфорта и нас с детства приучают к такой зоне, вводя ограничения свободы во всём. Нас учат "правильному" поведению, за это обещаны определённые блага. Нашу свободу (данную рождением) просто покупают.
Про коллекционеров ничего сказать не могу. Но точно есть люди с глубоким знанием вопроса своей темы. При этом больше обычных "потребителей", которым важен определённый статус. Для кого-то это вопрос следования моде или ещё чего-то ещё. Но есть крутые специалисты. Хочется в это верить)

That's what I'm talking about, they're just different and they also compare themselves to the norm. However, not all of them.
