Art Explained By A Writer: En dreng hviler i skyggen af et bondehus
Know what
I've had it with her
Who says he didn't go get cigarettes?
I'm waiting here at my leisure
Oh sunshine
How hot
The earth under my bare feet.
Oh what!
What is she babbling on about
I wish I didn't hear her voice
But
Those nasty words
Pounding in my head
Your father left
Disappeared into thin air.
So what
Stop
Stupid rotten bitch!
It's all your fault
I wish you didn't exist
Shut up!
I won't listen to you
I'll stay outside
-Even if its forever-
Till my father comes to pick me up.

And you?
You can sink in the mud or better
Put your feet in the soil
Be a tree
At least that way you're used
On a sunny, warm day
When someone wants to sit in the shade
Waiting
I'll wait, at least until night falls.

Me encantó leerte. Un abrazo.
It's the angry boy standing outside scolding his mother because she said father is gone. He likes to believe that his father does as he says, going to buy the cigarettes (with us dads no longer say that most don't smoke and the cigarette machines are removed at least 20 years ago if not longer).
So that boy... all those voices and words he heard mixed with thoughts wishes his mother had left instead of his father or she would be a tree and useful. Useful... mother is not useful.. who told the boy his mother is not? We can say that words don't hurt but believe it does if it is said by your flesh and blood. I wonder how a mother feels while that angry boy stands outside. Perhaps it is better to be a tree.
Who knows the boy is right and his father will come back in twenty years or forty if he's old and suddenly remembers he had a family.
This is so unapologetic!
It's crazy!
Imagine the boy calling his mother a bitch and then telling her to shut up. I don't need to know what the case may be, the son is going to have to take a lot in in an African society. 😂
You will be surprised what toddlers spit out at their parents! There was a time when it was promoted not to raise children but to let them experience and decide for themselves what is good and wrong. Hopefully, that time is over but if I see what is raised, the type of (young) adults I fear this is the result.
Your interpretation of the painting is quite unique and beautifully said 😉 oohh it's not interpretation but a story about what I see in the painting. Love it!
The Dutch version is better LOL I couldn't find the right words/translation to express how the boy feels but altogether it's realistic.Someone has to take the blame and being a tree isn't bad at all.
Thanks for your comment I love it.
