A Definition
Visual Arts. Artistic disciplines that are perceived primarily through sight. |
Traditionally, the term was associated with arts that involved the physical manipulation of some type of material. (e.g. paint, clay.) |
With the industrial revolution and the beginning of the 20th century, new forms of artistic expression emerged that used new media, new technologies: for example: photography, video, then virtual and digital media. This left behind the definition of plastic arts and adopted the term Visual Arts. |
"Visual Arts" includes all artistic manifestations perceived through sight, regardless of the medium and format with which they are created. |

Summary
The visual arts today are a very broad, dynamic and constantly expanding field. The classification presented is just a guide, as human creativity goes beyond any attempt to encapsulate it in a definition. See you in the next INFOGRAPHIC. Feel free to leave any topics you would like us to cover in the arts. |

This is very educating and impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Reading this made me feel like there should be more specifications to Visual Art, the embrace of technology as somewhat affected the true strength of traditional art such as paintings, sculptures and the likes.
Informative it is but it is the question what it is we will cover. Everything or let those who already cover a topic (photography for example) cover that part and with photograpy comes movement = films.
I like to see the community of a certain level although that might be hard and growth might take a while.
