$1 BBQ ALPACA in Peru hoo hooo 🇵🇪

image.png

Peru's known for its food and many other things. While traveling through Peru, other than beautiful nature, amazing culture and kind people, food is one of our favorite!

Many rare things like Cuy or guinea pig (A big rat or a small rabbit, choose one), cow's heart, and here we go Alpaca! One of my favs and totally one of the most healthy meat you could find out there.

$1 BBQ Alpaca for dinner!

Not exactly dinner, dinner really. It's more like a late-night snack. We came across this small stall also in front of Ollantaytambo ruins entrance. The lady who doesn't smile sits there from the evening till late at night. If you're lucky or if she feels like it, sometimes she also comes out during the day. It all depends #lol

There are a few types of meat, chicken, beef and alpaca. Once we hear the word alpaca, we looked back and walked straight to her stall. Where else in the world you would find BBQ Alpaca as a street food. I'm sure this is rare...

A few pieces of alpaca with one whole potato at the top for S/ 3 a screwer or a little less than a dollar. Lovely! I love it! I had that a few times while we were in Ollantaytambo.

In other part of Peru they also has this type of bbq called 'Anticuchos, inexpensive meat dishes that originated in the Andes during the pre-Columbian era. I see it elsewhere and mostly in Cusco region. Though not a lot of them are alpaca so, this is a good find!

Maybe she's not having a good day?

Would you go for some BBQ Alpaca?

They are cute but you know, they are yum!

traveling to Peru is pretty cheap huh! :)

Really depends. The most expensive meal we paid for was about $70 with really nice food but we could also find the set meal which is also nice for $1.5 :D

Well definitely there would be a range like that in any country but it's good to know that you can eat a meal for a low price. :)

Wow, once quarantine is over if I get the chance to visit peru I'll definitely be on the lookout, who eats alpacas???!! Sounds so crazy yet intriguing

They sell it all over. Love it!
