The original 1988 coming to america obviously held sway with a lot of movie viewers,with not just the storyline of 'in search of true love', but the showcase of rich african roots and costumes.
Coming to america 2 seemed to bring varied arguments and was received by diverse reactions, some saying,the movie was just ok,others saying it was a shadow of the original and many other things, but amid the different views of the movie there are deep lessons to learn from COMING TO AMERICA 2,
Here are some lessons I picked up from the movie COMING TO AMERICA 2.

1. As times change, some traditions must change.
   Discard every tradition that superimposes itself against ingenuity. In coming to america 1 Akeem makes a comment that 'it's custom that times must and do change', this is perfectly addressed in Coming to America 2.

The age long tradition of zamunda warrants a male heir take over the throne and even though Akeem had lived his life his way,chosen his wife by himself and sees himself as 'independent' when it came to crowning his successor, he cowers to tradition and goes looking for his bastard son who he didn't know existed until then leaving his daughter Meeka who'd been training all her life to be king,but Akeem soon learns that 'As times change,so must we'.

1. The best person to be is you. Don't try to be someone else.
   This is evidently portrayed in the life of Akeem's bastard son 'Lavelle'

who is forcefully thrown to adapt to the ways of zamunda inother to 'fit' into what royalty is perceived as thereby loosing his identity. Thanks to Mirembe the common royal groomer who makes him see that he can't be the best version of anyone else but himself.

1. It's good to follow your heart and dreams.

2. Love will always win. This is the case of lavelle and the common royal gromer Mirembe

3. Bad things happen in queens. 😁😁.

4. Tradition doesn't treat women as relevant in the society. This is modelled in the case of Akeem's daughter meeka who has trained all her life to become the ruler of zamunda only for her to be sidelined because she is a woman, though she and her sisters later prove their worth to their father and the kingdom by saving the day against the villainous General izzi of neighbouring nextdoria in the most applauding way, showing that women are relevant and do have their place in society and its growth.

5. Last but not the least, No matter what comes up in a marriage or friendship,forgiveness,understanding and the ability to move the family on as a unit is key. This is seen in how queen Lisa handles the news about the bastard son 'Lavelle', their arrival and the drama it brings to the royal household.

She doesnt go badmouthing the king or trying to separate her daughters from lavelle which she could have done, not to talk of when lavelle's mother wears her cloths without asking her permission. It's a major lesson for ladies to learn in this generation.
