TENZUG SHRINE IN THE SUMMIT OF TONGO ROCK || 3RD May, 2022 .

Hello friends, it is a pleasure to get in touch with you again. Today is a special day for our Muslim brothers and sisters because they are celebrating their festival today. To being a special day in Ghana, I will take you to a special tourist site where people used to visit. The place is called, TENGZUG SHRINE in Upper East Region of Ghana.

TONGO is a district capital in Talensi Nadam district in Upper East Region of Ghana. TONGO Rock, popularly known us whistling rock which is believed to make whistling sounds during hammatan season lied beside it a shrine called TENGZUG SHRINE. Tongo's traditional sacred house, the shrine was once a hideout for the slaves who managed to escaped from Europeans during the Atlantic Slave Trade Era.

It is believed that, the location of the shrine is the land of the gods. The place is seen as a sacred place where the natives worships. Tourist are entreated to remove their clothes when they arrive at the shrine. The tourists are made to perform some sacrifices to the gods on their arrival. The priest slaughters fowls and birds to the gods as part of the sacrifice. Tourist can also observe the remains of the sacrificed animals, bones and traditional jewellery such as beads, cowries and many more.

Tongo's inhabitants are Talansis and the time they used to visit the place is March when they celebrate the Golob Festival. Tourist can also visit this place on October for the famed Bo' araan festival which deals with the Butchering of animals and consumption of beverages. The place is very an interesting place to be.
