Post #1 - Second Attempt for a Steem-based Universal Basic Income

in UBI3 years ago (edited)

I have been experimenting with creating a basic income in the Steem Skillshare community for the past month. It took me a while, but I concluded that it wasn't the correct location to conduct experiments. It requires a community dedicated to making the model work. Once it is functioning, then new communities can adopt the protocol. Hence welcome to the UBI community.

In the previous attempt, I had adopted a self-less paradigm.

A particular "leader" would create posts that promoted other members and develop a list of ten percent beneficiaries. For the beneficiaries, the earnings met expectations. Earning an average of $ 0.325 per day is a good starting point as a basic income. My hope for this group was we could have eventually risen to $10.00 per day.

The earnings for the promoted posts exceeded my expectations.

In a country where the minimum wage is sixty dollars per month (Kazakhstan), the beneficiary almost earned that amount in two posts. In fact, for the period this aspect of the project was active, the beneficiary almost earned double the minimum wage:

Of course, the main reason this part of the project was successful was due to @milakz - the leader of the Steem Skillshare community.

One of the most critical mottos in business is that the role of a manager is to make his job unnecessary. When I terminated my role in this model (Leader), this group stopped functioning. Even though any group member could have continued the same successes by assuming my vacated position, this failure happened. As a consequence, I have decided to switch the protocol from being a self-less paradigm to a selfish paradigm.

Under this model, the group size is narrowed to six (plus two extras). Each of the members commits to creating UBI posts with the other members of the group as beneficiaries. You cannot be a beneficiary of the "Leader" unless you reciprocate.

I mentioned that there were two extras. I included @steem.skillshare, the curation account for that community, and @digital.mine to increase promotion. As the concept spreads, the beneficiaries would be encouraged to create new groups and including the Leader as one of the spares and the Leader of a second group the member might be part of.

If you are interested in joining this project, I invite you to join this community and invite like-minded friends.
