Icarus; The man who flew too close to the sun
A fiery move in itself
His pride and ego both took a turn
At directing his wings somewhere else
“Don’t fly too close to the water, or you might fall in and drown”
“And just as well, do not fly with arrogance.
Or your wings will melt, and the sky will turn upside down”
Heed he did, for a short while
And just when his eyes spotted shore
His confidence soared higher than he
His wings began to soar
But just like his superior attitude, one that reached for greater heights
The closer his man-made wings to the sun
The more impossible, his plight
So down he bounded, melted wax like ichor, faster than you could count to three
His bones and flesh
His hopes and dreams
Will never be buried beyond the wine-dark sea
