This time I want to discuss a little about one of the important figures in Islamic civilization on the island of Simeulue.
Teungku Diujung is one of the scholars who came from Minangkabau, West Sumatra
History records, on his way to perform the pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Baitullah, Teungku Diujung was asked to stop by to spread Islam on this island by Sultan Islandar Muda, the King of Aceh at that time.
From the narrative of local residents, Teungku Diujung and his descendants succeeded in Islamizing almost all residents on Simeulue Island and other small islands around it, so that his name was known by all circles on this island, as an appreciation of the local government, spelling his name as one the name of the main street on the island
