For professional reasons I have had to travel several times to the land of the pharaohs, a place that deserves to be one of the most important tourist destinations in the world, not only because of its history, but also because of the variety of cultures and races that live there. In fact, almost no one knows that approximately 10% of its population, some 9 million people, profess Coptic Christianity, and that the country is home to the oldest known Christian monasteries. In the south, on the border with Sudan, is the Nubian country, a race to which the ancient pharaohs are believed to have belonged and which has a language and culture very different from that of the Arabs. The Nile, the largest river in Africa, is the backbone of the country, and everything that happens and has happened is happening on its banks. Egypt lives from the river, by the river and thanks to the river. A country that is sometimes a prisoner of its history and which has had and continues to have, now less so, a great strategic importance and which is of course worth visiting.

Por razones profesionales he tenido que viajar varias veces al país de los faraones, lugar que bien merece ser uno de los destinos turísticos más importantes del mundo, y no solo por su historia, que sí, si no por la variedad de culturas y razas que conviven en él. De hecho, casi nadie sabe que el aproximadamente el 10% de su población, unos 9 millones de habitantes, profesa el cristianismo copto, y que el país alberga los monasterios cristianos más antiguos que se conocen. En el sur, en la frontera con Sudán, está el país nubio, raza a la que se supone pertenecían los antiguos faraones y que tiene una lengua y cultura muy diferente a la de los arabes. El país lo vertebra el Nilo, el río más caudaloso de África, y todo lo que pasa y ha pasado ocurre en sus orillas. Egipto vive del río, por el río y gracias a él. Un país que a veces es prisionero de su historia y que ha tenido y sigue teniendo, ahora menos, una gran importancia estratégica y que por supuesto merece la pena visitar.
