The salt of the Earth

Hello everyone.

Today I'm gonna share with you some photos I took in Peru in 2015.

More precisely in Maras, not far from Cusco.

Maras is a small town in the sacred valley of the Incas where people gather salt from salt ponds since the pre-Inca times.

One pond is generally owned by one family, but from what information I gathered while I was there, anyone can ask to be part of the community.

What these people do all day, everyday, doesn't look that much fun though. The sun is pretty high in the sky during most of the day, and all this salt is burning their skin pretty hard.
