If you do not know about my country, it is known as Sri Lanka: a beautiful island located in the Indian Ocean. So, every corner you meet amazing blue ocean. It is not same throughout the day. differs one moment to another. And I am lucky enough to live in the southern costal belt of the country and the main road lays few meters away from the blue wavy ocean.

I captured these photos two days back while traveling to Galle to visit my aunt's place. The road lays very close to the sea within most of the parts throughout the journey. The sky was ready for a rain and also had sunshine too. Few black clouds were in the sky while adding an amazing color to the evening.

From Colombo to Galle this road is called Galle Road and this is one of the main roads in the country. But if you travel through Southern Express Way, then you will not see this beauty. I captured these images from Ambalangoda to Seenigama while traveling on the mentioned Galle Road.

Every capture had a magical view with the natural colors of the blue ocean. I captured many photos throughout the journey. I could not stop it. Everything was amazing and colorful.

There is a walking path near Akurala which lays near sea coast and very beautiful in the evening. Many people used to visit there in the morning and evening for jogging and to have a rest. Outside of this wall shows in the picture, you meet wavy sea.

At the end of the walking path you meet this place. An eye-catching scenery with colorful flags on the boat. This place is not an actual harbor or a boatyard. During rainy season this place turns into a estuary. Other days, there is only a lagoon other side of the road.

This picture depicts Akurala Beach and this place is very much crowdy in weekends and holidays. This place is covered with coral reefs and hence safe for sea bath. Many vendors sell small balloon type stuffs here for kids.

After this, road goes near the sea and and you may meet railway also near the road. The road is too much closed to the road and only has a small gap in between sea and the road.

92km mark

In early days, there was a larger gap than this but due to coastal erosion it has been reduced bit by bit. There is a huge problem during waarakan season (the season where sea has a rough nature with big waves).

20210417_151409.jpg

During recent years, waves flow across the road at that time and it is a very much risky for small vehicles like bikes, three-wheelers and small cars. This sand near the road is due to this incident. Can you see large stone blocks near the road? They have been brought here to place near the coast to reduce the strength of the waves that hit the coast. This is the main problem with this road and otherwise everything is fine.

I heard somewhere that government has decided to replace this Galle Road somewhere else due to this problem. But I love this road as the scenery is super good. Placing stone cubes up to certain extend would be a solution for this.

Near Peraliya, you can see this statue placed near the road and this place is dedicated for the people unfortunately died in train accident due to Tsunami in 2004. That happened other side of the road and there is a museum that contains this train and all.

If you are a Sri Lankan, you know this place from its name. This place is very much popular throughout the country for its hidden power of solving problems. This Dewalaya(temple) is dedicated for God Devol and there are people who have experienced this hidden power in this place. Whoever passes this place, stops for a minute, worship and put a coin in the fund box as a habit.

The most sacred place belongs to this place is this small devol located in a small island in the sea. No direct path is there to reach this place and only option is to travel by a boat or a canoe. I have not been there. This place did not damage even by the Tsunami happened in 2004 and people believe that it is due to its power.

This road goes further with an amazing view. Soon after this Dewalaya, you meet Hikkaduwa town and it is world famous due to its corals and beach. This area is like an another place outside the country because many foreigners are there.

I can write more and more but I decided to stop here. If you visit Sri Lanka someday, I am sure you will go through this road. I invite you all to see this beauty one day. 💖
