Today, I like to post about Manas National Park. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and span across India and Bhutan. Tue Indian part is known as Manas National Park, where as the Bhutanese part is known as Royal Manas National Park.

The nearest airport to Manas National Park is Guwahati (GAU). From Guwahati, you need to reach Barpeta by train or car. From Barpeta, you need to reach Banshbari - which is the entry gate of the forest. After getting the permit, you can enter into the park using gypsy available at the entry gate with a fixed rate.

The total area for Manas National Park is 950 square kilometer.

The forest has mixed type of vegetation. Grassland, Himalayan mixed Moist and Dry Deciduous trees and Sub-Himalayan Light Alluvial Semi-Evergreen trees.

In Manas National Park, the most popular animals are famous indian one horn rhinoceros and indian elephant. Along with rhinoceros and elephants, there are deers, gaurs, wild-buffalos, wild-pigs, leopards.

Manas National Park is also popular among the bird watchers as many different types of birds are found here. Hornbill, florican, jungle fowls, ducks, bulbuls, pheasants, eagles, pelicans, egrets are found there.

There is one forest rest house inside Manas National Park. The booking can be done from the Forest Ranger officer. There is a canteen available at forest rest house which is run by the local villagers and serve mixed menu like puri-sabzi during breakfast, rice-lentil-vegetable-egg curry during lunch and rice-vegetable-chicken curry during dinner.
