This is the our national anthem with a title "Arise, O Compatriots". It was adopted in 1978 and is the country's second ever national anthem. It was composed by John A. Ilechukwu, Eme Etim Akpan, B. A. Ogunnaike, Sota Omoigui and P. O. Aderibigbe to replaced the previous national anthem, "Nigeria, We Hail Thee", which was seen as a foreign anthem. The words were put to music by the Nigerian Police Band under the directorship of Benedict E. Odiase.

While Nigerian pledge of allegiance is recited immediately after the playing of the Nigerian national anthem: It was written by Prof (Mrs.) Felicia Adebola Adeyoyin in 1976.

I pledge to Nigeria my country.
To be faithful, loyal and honest.
To serve Nigeria with all my strength
To defend her unity and uphold her honour and glory
So help me God.Amen.sources.

In Nigeria, along with many other countries where Football is a popular sport, the country was able to be successful at the sport. Super Eagles, its national team, competes regularly for international titles and has made its mark in global sports competitions when regarded as one of the best teams in Africa and was ranked 10th in the world.

Nigeria may lack on sports achievements but never in festivities and events held annually that many Nigerians get excited about. Some of these are Argungu Fishing Festival which was first held in 1934, and the goal of the competition is to catch the largest fish. The Abuja International Motor Fair is an event that showcases the latest in the car and truck worlds.
