The Most Famous Forest In My Country Nigeria // SAMBISA FOREST.

I am writing about the most famous but dreaded Forest in my country, which was once a thriving game reserve but now known as a hideout for one of the most feared terrorist group in my country Nigeria.
This forest is Known as Sambisa Forest.
Sambisa Forest is located at Borno State, the northern part of Nigeria.

It is in the southwestern part of Chad Basin National Park, about 60 kilometres (37 mi) southeast of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The forest covers some parts of other states like Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi along the corridor Darazo, Jigawa, and some parts of Kano state farther north.

Talking about the climate of this forest, it is known to be hot and semi-arid, with minimum temperatures of about 21.5 °C between December and February, a maximum of about 48 °C in May and average temperatures of about 28-29 °C. It is also said to have an annual rainfall of about 190 mm.

From my research, it was learned that the British colonial administration had gazetted the Sambisa Forest as a reserve in 1958, making it one of the conservation legacies bequeathed to the Nigerian state by the colonial power, after which it was re-gazetted In 1977 as a National Game Reserve for the preservation of rare animals, which would serve as a tourist area and would also generate funds.
For a long time, it was home to a variety of wild animals. According to history, as late 1970s, the forest attracted tourists, and today, however, the story has changed. The once-thriving game reserve is dead, the animals are gone, What remains in abundance in the green landscape is a battalion of Nigerian troops battling a motley of brutal terrorists.
