STREET CONTEST - KNOW ABOUT MY STREET

A beautiful day to all Steemians in this house, this is my first time in this community and I am glad participating in this street contest.

MY STREET
The name of my street is Udi Street in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, The street is a business area and opposite the street, we have University of Uyo.

My street is a busy area because of the business we have and because of the students who lives around.

One thing that is so special about the street is that, it is owned by an Akwa Ibomite but the hausa's are scattered all over the places. They do dollars exchange, sow clothes, sell rings, watches and perfumes of all sort and also sell food (tuwo chikafa)

So every day, we see different kinds of men and women driving in and out of the street, either to buy and sow their clothes, to buy their accessories or to exchange money.👇

The building with the lemon color and green color roof, is a pharmacy and the only pharmacy we have in Udi Street and the blue sign post with the name KAMBA FASHION DESIGNERS is a fashion design shop that also specialize in weaving of clothes as well.👇

This is mostly the place you really find more of the Muslims because there mosque is here and in the center of the street. You find them lined up with their goods displayed for sell or most of them just seat down there, waiting for any car that will drive pass looking for where to exchange dollars so they can exchange for them.👇

Now, this is the end of my street. My street isn't a big street but it is a very busy area because we have the University opposite and businesses are scattered everywhere. At the end of my street, you find few southeasterners selling boutiques, phone accessories, and ready made shoes, drinking parlour and restaurant. 👇

One of the pros about my street is that, it is filled with notorious boys who always stand at the beginning of the road in the evening or morning middle to collect money from tricycle drivers and most times, if the driver refuses to pay them, they always end fighting.

Secondly, if one is not careful, this guys always pick pocket or snatch someone's phone.

A recent incident occurred to one of my friend who happened to withdraw money from the POS machine in the early hours of the morning came back telling me that while he was trying to cross, a guy just hit him and told "oh boy, observe oo" he did not understand until he went to buy something, while searching for the money to pay for what he bought, he realized that the money was no longer in his pocket.

So many have been robbed of their phones or money at this street and that is why we have Police men and Anti-robbery squad always moving around the area.

Another pros is traffic congestion, this happens at the beginning of the street road and the end of the street road. It is always so terrible most times that tricycle men will have to use a short cut so they can leave the traffic and I guess it is because of the bustling and hustling in the street and the traffic light we have at each designated place also affects this issues.

One thing I don't like about my street is the fact that you really see a place to buy groceries or recharge cards until you move to the end of the street into another street before you get the opportunity to buy things like that. You can find anything but not a good and standard grocery store or a recharge card store.

Although the government have stationed a few government officials to help in the traffic congestion but many times, you don't find this people doing their work.

Most times, I just wish the government will always do check up to make sure this people are in their work position and doing exactly what they are asked to do.
