Greetings lovers of geography!

I am glad to have been given such a wonderful opportunity to participate in such a wonderful contest, I am on the wrong track if I fail to say a big thank you to @belenguerra, @worldgeography and to also thank God for a successful surgery carried out on @belenguerra.

  • in this contest i will share with the community what I love more about my beloved country. To be sincere it is not easy for the masses, despite all the natural resources the country is blessed with, but we must prevail.

Zuma Rock is a large natural monolith, an igneous intrusion composed of gabbro and granodiorite, in Niger State, Nigeria. It is located immediately west of Nigeria's capital Abuja, along the main road from Abuja to Kaduna off Madala, and is sometimes referred to as the "Gateway to Abuja from Suleja.

Access Into The Rock.

Since the rock has no fence surrounding it, the access to the rock is for free but if you are interested in rock climbing or exploring the magnificent mass of the rock, you will be required to pay a token in order to begin your climbing adventure to the top of the rock.

Settlements At Zuma Rock

Zuma Rock is believed to have natural contours on its surface which looks like the image of a human face with features seeming like a mouth, eyes, and nose. The natives believe the face represents the deity and ancestral powers protecting and governing their affairs.

Best time to visit the Zuma Rock.

visitors can visit Zuma Rock all year round, the best time to visit the rock is during the rainy season (April through October) especially if you are looking forward to experience the amazing fire at the rock’s apex.

  • Zuma Rock sits on a very large expanse of underground water. It is also believed that if the rock is brought down, there will be an outburst of water that will submerge a mindboggling amount of land area. Traditionally, it is believed that when people die, their spirits go to the rock, and since masquerades are believed to be the spirit of the dead, it is believed that all masquerades originated from Zuma Rock.

I actually love the Zuma rock because I am based in Abuja and I have visited the Zuma rock before.
