National Symbols of Republic of INDIA.

I am happy for the creation of this wonderful geography community and first contest thereby. I am very optimistic about the future of this community. As for this contest of national symbols is concerned, i will be writing about National symbols of my country (INDIA).

The Republic of INDIA has several National symbols , in which we take pride. These symbols infuse a sense of patriotism in our hearts. Let's come to specifics:

NATIONAL FLAG - TIRANGA

Tiranga -Tiranga means Tri Color. Thr colors from above downward are deep saffron , white and deep green. In the centre, there is a 24 spoked blue colored wheel known as Ashok Chakra.

NATIONAL ANIMAL - Bengal Tiger

Bengal tiger is native to indian subcontinent. It belongs to panthera tigris tigris subspecies. It was declared as Nation animal in the 1973 . Prior to tiger, Lion was nation animal of india. Tiger so called lord of forest symbolize power and wildlife wealth of india.

NATIONAL HERITAGE ANIMAL - INDIAN ELEPHANT

Indian elephant was declared as national heritage animal by indian Environment Ministery in 2010 . In order to prevent it from getting extincted as it was endangered than. This move of govt has served its purpose. It is an emblem of ecological sensitivity.

NATIONAL BIRD - INDIAN PEACOCK.

Declared as National bird in 1963 . It represnts unity of vivid colors. It is native to indian subcontinent. It is very popular in india.

NATIONAL REPTILE - KING COBRA

It is considerd as sacred animal in indian culture. It is worshipped by Hindus in india, Cobra is a venomous snake.

NATIONaL FLOWER - INDIAN LOTUS.

It is also known as Bean of India, sacred lotus , Egyptean lotus. Just for the sake of knowledge, lotus is Nation flower of vietnam also. Lotus symbolise purify because it has long stalk which takes flower away from dirt. It also represents Prosperity , wealth, long life and good fate.

NATIIoNAL TREE -INDIAN BANYAN

It is a symbol of IMMORTALITY. It is because the tree roots itself and therefore grow on its own and over large area and is therefore in that context considered as immortal. The tree is also known as Kalpavriksha, which means ‘wish fulfilling tree’. Banyan tree has medicinal value too. Banyan tree gives shelter to mamy species of amimals which is similar to diverse cultures, customs religions etc in india.

NATIONAL FRUIT - MANGO

Mango is native to india like hundreds of varieties of fruits. Mango is also known as king of fruits. Indians are so much in love with the delicousness of this fruit that one of the mughal emporers has planted one lakh mango trees in darbanga garden.

Importance of River Ganges can be emphasized by its religious significance in INDIA. It is considered as sacred and worshipped as goddess Ganga in INDIA. It has great historical Significance as many imperial/provincial capitalis have been located on its banks.

It is a symbol of distinctive colors in the form of a ribbon knot usually worn on hat/cap.

NATIONAL AQUATIC ANIMAL -

SOUTH ASIAN RIVER DOLPHIN

It is actually the Ganges river dolphin which is designated as National aquatic animal. It is an endangered aquatic fresh water specie.

NATIONAL SONG - Vande Matarum.

Initially it was national anthem but was later changed to National song. It was composed in Sanskrit by Bankimchandra Chatterjee.it means “I praise thee, Mother” or “I praise to thee, Mother”. Here mother refers to the land of indian republic.

NATIIONAL ANTHEM - JANA GANA MANA.

It was adopted as national anthem in 1950 when the now called national song which was the than national anthem faced opposition from non hindu indians. Jana gana mana is Hindi version of an anthem which was originally composed in Bengali by Rabindranath Tagore.

NATIONAL EMBLEM

It is adaptation of lion capital of Ashoka . It has 4 lions facing east, west, north and south. The motto inscribed below the abescus in devangri script "satyameva jayati" meaning * truth alone triumph* is integral part of emblem. It is crowned by wheel of law.
