Hello fellow geography lovers, here's my presentation post for the Steem Geography Community....!

What's your name?

Hi, this is Manas from Guwahati, India. When I first started out on Steemit around April 2021, I was an active member here in Steem Geography. In the next few weeks, I lost touch with this group. But geography as a subject has been my secret love since schooling and I don't want to miss the opportunity to engage with this awesome bunch of people in this community specific to Geography. As I wasn't a verified member of the community, so today I decided to go ahead and do the same.

In which country do you live?

I am from India, a country in South Asia. I am sure you've heard about my country. Do let me know what comes to your mind first when you here about India.

What's your town or city?

I come from Guwahati city in the state of Assam. This state lies in the North-East of India, connected through a thin corridor with the mainland. The North-eastern states share boundaries with Bangladesh, Myanmar, China and Bhutan.

Guwahati is known as the 'Gateway to the NorthEast.' The Brahmaputra river flows by it.

Mention 3 things that you love more about your neighborhood (or the place you live in)

The Urban Buzz: Evenings are the best time to walk through the busy urban arcade. Under lights, the city metropolis comes to life. The shopping malls, the restaurants, the streets etc. are pretty enjoyable. It is highly recommended to hangout with friends and family and enjoy the city life.

Tourism: My home state Assam is known for its numerous places of tourist interest. The Kaziranga National Park (famous for the one horned rhinoceros) tops the list. Besides you can visit Majuli, the largest inhabited river island in the world, enshrined with the Vaishnavite cultures.

When it comes to my neighbourhood, one can visit the famous Kamakhya Temple on top of Nilachal Hills, take an evening cruise on the Brahmaputra River which flows through the heart of Assam or take a stroll across the busy streets of Fancy Bazar, do shopping and enjoy the street foods.

Food: I am an unapologetic foodie myself. I love to eat local Indian cuisines mostly. When I am hanging out with my friends, I try Chinese, Continental, Italian or Mexican may be. My neighborhood's got a unending line of popular restaurants. So that's the third thing I love about my place. Have you tried Butter Naan and Chicken Butter Masala? If not, you're missing out on a heavenly treat.

Now let me tell you why do I love Steemit

Steemit rewards contents: When I heard about Steemit for the first time, I thought it was a money making machine. But that was just an illusion. Steemit is just another FB that actually pays for our posts. Wow. That's an amazing concept. That pulled me in.
Steemit teaches us lessons for life:
Steemit rewards original content. Likewise, we should adopt a similar practice in life.
Rewards don't rain in Steemit. Perseverance and dedication is important to be successful on this platform. Same is the mantra of life.
Thus, originality is rewarded in the long run, not only on Steemit but in all spheres of life.

Why you like Steem Geography Community?

As I said already, I have been a huge admirer of geography as a subject since my academics in school. I love map reading, time zones and to explore through the Atlas in free time. So I would like to keep myself engaged with this community, learn from fellow explorers from different countries around the world about the food, culture, soil, traditions, people. I can't wait to get my application approved here. 😁

Much of my geographical clarity related to places around the world can be attributed to my love for football. Since football clubs are based out of major cities around the world, so that increased my curiosity to look them up on maps. For e.g. Manchester, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Munich etc.

Apart from all the interests and attractions, I am also a God-fearing person. So before beginning any major assignment in my life, I take the blessings of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu deity. That's why I love to go to the Ganesh Temple near my home once in a while for spiritual purity and motivation. The Lord hears your prayers!
