Asia is Earth's biggest and most crowded landmass, found principally in the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. It imparts the mainland landmass of Eurasia to the mainland of Europe and the mainland landmass of Afro-Eurasia with both Europe and Africa. Asia covers a region of 44,579,000 square kilometers (17,212,000 sq mi), about 30% of Earth's all out land zone and 8.7% of the Earth's absolute surface territory. The mainland, which has for quite some time been home to most of the human populace, was the site of a significant number of the primary civic establishments. Asia is striking for its general huge size and populace, yet additionally thick and huge settlements, just as huge scarcely populated locales. Its 4.5 billion individuals (as of June 2019) comprise generally 60% of the world's population. In general terms, Asia is limited on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean, and on the north by the Arctic Ocean. The line of Asia with Europe is a recorded and social develop, as there is no reasonable physical and geological detachment between them. It is to some degree subjective and has moved since its first origination in old style vestige. The division of Eurasia into two mainlands reflects East–West social, semantic, and ethnic contrasts, some of which differ on a range instead of with a sharp isolating line. The most generally acknowledged limits place Asia toward the east of the Suez Canal isolating it from Africa; and toward the east of the Turkish Straits, the Ural Mountains and Ural River, and toward the south of the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian and Black Seas, isolating it from Europe.

China and India rotated in being the biggest economies on the planet from 1 to 1800 CE. China was a significant monetary influence and pulled in numerous toward the east,[8][9][10] and for some the unbelievable abundance and flourishing of the antiquated culture of India represented Asia,[11] drawing in European trade, investigation and expansionism. The coincidental revelation of an overseas course from Europe to America by Columbus while in quest for a course to India shows this profound interest. The Silk Road turned into the principle east–west exchanging course the Asian hinterlands while the Straits of Malacca remained as a significant ocean course. Asia has displayed financial dynamism (especially East Asia) just as vigorous populace development during the twentieth century, yet generally speaking populace development has since fallen.[12] Asia was the origin of the majority of the world's standard religions including Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Jainism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, just as numerous different religions.

Given its size and variety, the idea of Asia—a name going back to traditional relic—may really have more to do with human topography than actual geography.[citation needed] Asia differs significantly across and inside its locales concerning ethnic gatherings, societies, conditions, financial aspects, authentic ties and government frameworks. It additionally has a blend of various atmospheres going from the central south through the hot desert in the Middle East, mild territories in the east and the mainland community to immense subarctic and polar regions in Siberia.
