Rainy Weather
INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone in #SteemGeoegraphy. How's the weather over there? It's still rainy season here in Nigeria. I'm delighted to parttake in this contest. It's an opportunity for me to share with the Steemit family the weather I declare my love for. Everyone familiar with me knows I crave for this weather to always come. Glad to finally share it with my fellow steemians here. Thanks to @bright-obias and @steemgeography for this contest idea.
MY FAVOURITE WEATHER CONDITION : RAINY WEATHER
First of all, what is weather condition?
Weather Condition is the atmospheric conditions that comprise the state of the atmosphere in terms of temperature and wind and clouds and precipitation.Source
This implies that the weather condition is the atmospheric conditions of a geographical location at a specific period of time. It could be hot ( sunny) or cold,windy or cloudy or precipations in form of rain,snow,dew, hail , mist or sleet.
The weather conditions of a place varies from time to time depending on the seasons.And it occurs as transition from one Weather Condition to another. In Nigeria we have two seasons.
- Dry Season: which comprises of Sunny weather and Harmattan weather.
- Rainy Season
The Sunny weather is characterized by extreme heat, usually between January and early April.
The Harmattan weather is known for its extreme cold and fog, usually from late October in some states and December in other states through January.
Rainy Weather characterized by periods of abundant rainfalls, usually between March and November, with most rainfalls in June.
Rain
As mentioned in the contest post, there are 4 Basic Weather Conditions: Sunny, Cloudy, Rainy, Snowy.
For me,among these weather, my favourite weather condition is the Rainy Weather.Even as I write my post, it's raining here.
I so much like this weather because of its coolness. After a season of extreme heat,when the atmosphere is tensed and hot, mother Earth releases her downpour of cooling rain. This is a s natural saving action! Has anyone imagined been burned by a hot object and you immediately run cool water over it, that feeling of relief you feel. Exactly the feeling I have when the rainy weather takes over from hot weather.
WEATHER CONDITION I DISLIKE
The weather condition I dislike is the Sunny weather because it gives me sunburn on my face (dark circles). This weather produces extreme heat, causing a hot atmosphere.
The sun becomes scorching, people ends up having heat rashes especially , babies and children,causes body discomfort, profuse sweating releasing bad smell, others experience sunburn on faces and other parts of their body. To me, the Sunny weather can be an unfriendly weather to the body.
IMPORTANCE OF RAINY WEATHER ON PLANET EARTH
The importance of rainy weather cannot be overemphasized.
1. The Rainy Weather support life.
For we in Nigeria, the rainy season occurs the most part of the year. This shows that water is important for life. If the weather continues to be dry and sunny with little or no rain, life may soon go into extinction. By Life, I mean everything living. All living things needs water for survival. As humans, our body consists of 90% water. You may survive some days without food, but not without water.
When water bodies such as rivers,seas, oceans, lakes etc all reduces in size due to waterloss by evaporation in hot weather, they regain their volume during the rainy weather. This support the aquatic life( aquatic plants🌻, fish 🐟, 🐙 octopus , 🦈 sharks, 🐋 whales, 🦀 crabs, 🦐 shrimps) that lives in them deriving oxygen and minerals. Imagine,the size of waterbodies keeps reducing, no rainfall, what happens to the creatures that survives only in them! Extinction is inevitable.
2. For Agricultural purposes
It is the prayer of every farmer for it to rain. Rainfalls are natural means of iirigating the farmlands. In fact, during rainy season is when there are abundant food harvest. And food supplies are usually cheap to purchase. But once the rainy season ends, food supplies are on the high cost. The rainy season is also of economic value in this regard. Everyone needs food to keep mind and soul together. We eat to live.
Therefore, the rainy weather is very helpful in cultivation of crops and rearing of animals too.When there is rain, the fields are green with abundant grasses for animal grazing.
3. The Environment is Green and Healthy
During the rainy season, the environment is green , healthy and beautiful with gardens with blossom flower 🌺🌼🏵️ , 🌲 🌲🌴🌴 trees with full green leaves. All beautiful to behold. After a rainfall, you see little creeping creatures( snails 🐌, millipedes🐛🐛, centipedes, etc) all coming out, butterflies🦋🦋 flying around, these edible flies, called esunsun in Yoruba troop out in numbers,you hear chirping of 🐦 birds , croaking of toads 🐸 . All births the sight of Beautiful Nature.
4.Provide Coolness
A cool weather is a skin friendly one. The Rainy weather provides coolness. After a rainfall, the weather is always cool and calm with little or no sunshine. Everyone I suppose desire a weather that's just cool.
CONCLUSION
The Rainy Weather for an important weather for the planet Earth that supports the growth and survival of life on Earth, without this weather it may be difficult for life to continue.
Now it has finished raining here, the weather is just perfect, cool! No heat, no discomfort!
This is my best weather;The Rainy weather.
