Basics for blog-beginner - what to write and how to write?

I have been asked this question so many times in my lectures “what to write in a blog and how to start writing a blog?” So I thought to answer this question by writing a blog. I might sound sarcastic but through writing blogs you can spread knowledge and can reach mass information chaser. I found writing a blog is like writing a diary or a personal journal which can be read by anyone all over the globe.
If one follows some basic steps, you can write a blog
1- Planning
2- Create a catchy Tag line
3- Start writing around the topic
4- Use add-ons to enhance your blog
5- Finishing touch

1- Planning Stage
Most of the new comers skips the planning stage in hurry to start writing, it’s like appearing for an exam without any preparation. Choosing topic to write is the most crucial part, I have seen people to change or switch topic in between, this happens when you start in a hurry without any foundation. One can avoid unnecessary skipping by choosing the right one. It can save time, energy and most importantly your motivation.
I would suggest to choose the common topic, so people can relate to it. At least they will have an opinion about your blog. Genuine reader will appreciate/Criticize/comment, expert will guide/direct/motivate. In both the ways you will come out as a winner.
Once you select the topic, create an outline around it. Define your circle, restrict yourself to that topic. Once you create the outline by breaking that topic into parts, achieve each part like achieving a milestone. One can research and check the available facts about the said topic.
It’s good to have all the information before you start to pen down the first word. It helps the writer in long run.

2- Create a catchy tagline
If you have watched any news channel or any broadcaster’s pop-up message on your mobile, you will understand what you are expected to do at this stage. Once you create “Headline” which is more attractive and informative one cannot resist without reading the blog/article. It’s all about your inputs and how your readers took it. If you are offering something new to people at large they will recognize your thoughts/views.

3- Don’t start to FINISH
I am not talking about the professionals or people who can write chapters in a single sitting. If you are new to writing or blogging, hold your horses and start with some paragraphs a day. Don’t rush to finish the article/blog in a day. One should follow the Write-Read-Rewrite process to get better output /content. As we follow in corporate emailing ‘read before you click on send’. While reading your own write-ups you can modify the sentence formation and grammar. In this stage you are actually putting your thoughts on paper. Consider it as a canvas which you have to paint to create a masterpiece and masterpiece takes more time than a usual building.

4- Use add-ons to enhance your blog
Once you finish with basics of your blog, now it’s time to enhance its credibility. To do that, one can add some professional images to the blog, add humor or can explain a complex topic which is explained in simple words. While using images use those images which are self-explanatory. Images should give your article a value addition not an extra luggage. Humor and complex topics are sensitive sometimes, if you plan to use such content in blogs be careful about people’s sentiments and values.

5- Finishing touch
This is the last stage and you are inches away from posting your blog/article. I would recommend to check your complete blog with images and all other placements. Don’t hesitate to cut short the article if you are not happy with it. It should flow like a smooth story. If possible, take a second opinion on it. Check font, style, size and color you are using in your post. Once you feel positive about it, you are ready to click on post.

Writing a blog is not always like creating new content, one can recreate their own version of already available information but while using someone else’s creation or material please take required permissions or approvals to avoid any copyright issues later. Happy writing…!!!
