Fishing tip #11 Change tactics
If that fish doesn’t bite you have to change tactics whether it is changing your location, your rod or the bait. Changing tactics pays off!
When deep sea fishing you are on the water for hours. As it is also expensive going out with a boat you must try to make the most of it. If you don't get a bite, change what you are doing.
As mentioned it might be changing, bait, rods even rigs and the way you are fishing. Trolling should be replaced with drifting and vice versa.
Changing tactics might happen with in hours even in minutes. Also, what worked today might not work tomorrow.
Over the years I've learned as captain of my boat to not only trust my instincts but also to listen to the men on the boat.
The golden rule when you are not catching fish is to not get discourage. I've seen fishermen taking part in a five day competition where they haven't caught any fish only to be the winners at the next competition.
Whatever you do, don't give up!
Photo was taken while fishing on the East Coast of South Africa. It seems that there was a shark in the waters who was just as hungry as us.
Catch and release is a practice that all fishermen exercise within recreational fishing.
Keep on fishing!
