Spoiler Alert

The film Perfume is such an extraordinary take on human greed and what even the strongest of us really want or actually need. Who here has watched the film? I think it's a French film based on the book Das Parfum.

It's based on the story of a kid who has a really good and almost godly sense of smell. He can even smell iron and glass. It's a fictional depiction but the story really presents in a realistic way.

He sets out to collect all the smells in the world and in the process realizes he has no smell of his own. But, after a few unethical acts, he finally gets his own smell. A smell so beautiful people dub him as an angel and kneel before him. But, in this final scene, he realizes what he wanted all along was love and not this.

I find the way he realizes this as such a mournful moment. He was only a mirror of the society he was born. Because society could never give him love neither can he show what he has never seen or felt.

In the end, it wasn't his fault that he turned out the way it was. Many people may think of him as a villain but I think he is just a victim of his cruel society.
