A Photo Trip Through Colorado's Highway 82 and Independence Pass | Elevation 10,900 ft.
Hey, thanks for stopping by! Colorado was an awesome state to drive through. Some of the most beautiful high mountain ranges you’ll ever see are found there. We ended up having to take a detour due to the fire around Aspen. We were directed up highway 82 all the way to Glenwood Springs. This road took us to an elevation of 10,900 feet and provided some great photo opportunities. It’s crazy that they have to close the road from October through May because it gets so much snow. To see this on Google Maps, follow this link: https://goo.gl/maps/j1EZPqUxrMoAmMyk9
These photos and some map shots are from our drive on highway 82 and what we got to see. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
Taken in Utah about to cross into Colorado. We could see the plume of smoke for a long time before crossing the state line.
This must be like driving a tank. It doesn’t look like the wheels turn. I’d be wanting to drive this around as my new ride! www.Coloradosherp.com
This is how they clear snow off of the train tracks in Colorado. They have some serious equipment there. I wonder what it's like driving that beast?
I took this while my wife was driving. You really want to pay attention while driving this road. There is basically a foot or two before your upside down.

The glaciers that occupied this area thousands of years ago carved some unbelievable mountain ranges and valleys. During the winter these steep valleys produce a lot of avalanches as you can see in the pathway carved out and trees laying everywhere like toothpicks.
Make sure you have good breaks!
So high up nothing grows up there!
That was all the photos on the drive. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you get the chance, it is worth a drive but make sure you stop along the way to take pictures! If you enjoyed my post, please consider following me so you don’t miss any of my future updates! Until next time!
