Seven Day Black And White Challenge Day 5 for Week 3: "The Tanjung Rhu Watchtower"
That's a real old school architecture right there.
Notice the roof holding the spire? It was closed when I arrived but if I'm close enough to take the photo you will see an octagonal-shaped roof. An 8-sided shape is interpreted to be good luck and associated with prosperity in Chinese culture.
The Lunar New Year is just around the corner and so these things will become more relevant once again. This is going to be the time when people will reminisce & relive the tradition. Things like Bagua are displayed on walls or even doors. Round fruits, rice cakes & whatnot will be set down the dining table. Some of the things that were an influence of the Chinese culture and is practiced even in south-east Asian countries.
