Sunset Mountainscape

Hello Guys!
I would like to share to you my new finished art landscape. This painting technique was used by one of my mentor named "Bob ross". He was the creator and host of The Joy of Painting. He learned the "wet-on-wet" technique which allowed him to complete and finished paintings in less than an hour.

When you know the fundamental techniques and style in painting, you create your own masterpiece. In this painting the color tone, the texture and the composition are quite important.

Materials:
Brushes
• 1/2" flat brush
• Round brush
• Liner brush
• Filvert brush
• Pallete knife

Acrylic paint
• Titanium white
• Lemon yellow
• Green mid
• Violet
• Mars black
• Cobalt blue hue
• Crimson red

Painting process:

To start painting, the first layer of paint applied to a canvas is called underpaint. You can use purple, blue or yellow. Usually I used titanium white. The purpose of underpaint is used as the foundation of your painting. It will give also a major effects of your painting. I used half inch flat brush in order to blend the sky with vibrant effect.

Since this is sunset scenery, I used purple, red and yellow mixed with titanium white and blend it well. Put the horizon where the lights comes from and create a glow from within.

For the mountain I used purple color, mix with red and small amount of black. Putting the highlights using palette knife technique creating roughness effect. The mountain, Basically you highlight the light side where your light source is coming from.

On the foreground of the mountain I used filvert brush by putting distance background tress and bushes using black color and with their reflections in the water the same with the mountain.

Painting the trunks and branches of the tress, I used black color using round brush and with the highlights with white. Basically on painting trees limbs liner brush is excellent because it creates a very thin lines. There are four colors I used for the leaves.(red, lemon yellow, green mid and white)

What type of brush is good for clouds?
Since this is a small canvas, for creating the clouds I used a round brush. there are many shapes of clouds it could be oval shape, circle etc. Clouds also have shadows in them. I used white acrylic paint as the base color for the clouds. don't forget to used light thinned color white at the top and blend down.Push the edges of the cloud try to create the edges softter and fade away. to attain realistic clouds put some gray color on tha clouds to create dimension.

This is the complete piece of sunset mountain. I hope these simple details will certainly bring inspiration specially to those who want to learn art.
