Activities of a Kangaroo

Kangaroos be one of those animals I always find so funny and different. I mean, they don’t even walk like normal animals, they hop and bounce like a big ball with legs. Every time I watch one, it looks like it’s flying just a little above ground. They jump far, sometimes longer than I can even count in my head, just to get to another place where food or water dey. Their legs are extremely strong, they also have features just like springs, and that’s how they hop around with ease without wasting too much energy.

Most time, kangaroo like to eat grass, soft leaves, or anything green that grows close to the ground. When it’s early morning, before sun shine too hot, they go out and start chewing quietly. I notice they don’t rush when eating, just moving small-small while picking food. When it’s hot, they rest plenty. Sometimes, they hide under tree shade to cool body. You can even see them lying down flat, looking lazy but still alert. I think they like peace and quiet more than too much movement in the sun.

When you look at kangaroo, you will see their tail very big and strong. It’s not there for fashion; that thing help them balance when they sit or jump. I once read that some kangaroo can use the tail almost like one extra leg. It really amazing how nature make them like that. And when they’re sitting, that tail just rest behind them like chair stand.

Kangaroos are also friendly in their own way. They don’t like to stay alone for long. They form something we call a “mob,” which be like a family or group. Inside that group, they kind of take care of each other, play, and sometimes even fight small. The big male ones usually like to show who’s boss. They stand up tall, using their tail for balance, and then start kind of boxing with their front paws. It looks funny but serious too because that’s how they protect or win respect in the group.

Mother kangaroo always make me smile. She keep her baby, called joey, inside her pouch after giving birth. That little one will stay there for months, safe and warm, while the mother hop around doing her daily things. Sometimes you can see the baby’s tiny head poking out from the pouch to look around. If anything scare it, back inside it goes quick! The pouch be like home, bed, and protection all in one place. Even when the joey grow big, it still jump back inside when it feels scared or tired. That love between mother and baby kangaroo just so pure and sweet.

During the day, kangaroos don’t really move too much when sun too hot. They like chilling under tree or any place with shade. When it gets cooler again, they start moving, feeding, jumping and looking for water. It’s like they follow nature clock, doing things when the weather calm. Sometimes they play together, other times they just stand still, looking like they thinking deep about something. Maybe they enjoy the quiet, who knows.

All these activities, like jumping, eating, resting, staying together, and caring for their younglings — that’s the life of a kangaroo(that's how they leave their life). Everything they do looks simple but makes sense for how they survive in their land. Watching them makes me think animals got their own ways of living happy and free. Kangaroos really special, full of strength and peace at the same time.
