What are the importance of soil testing in agriculture?

	Soil Testing

Soil testing is very important for Bangladesh’s agriculture. Most people are dependent farming,soil must be kept fertile. Testing the soil will allow us to know what nutrients are being destroyed and what are excessive. For instance, fertilizer added if nitrogen is low. They also help us to know what sort of crop will perform well on a particular land and which fertilizer to use. Using fertilizers correctly means saving farmers money and yielding better returns. Income and standard of living are improved by this. Knowing what the soil needs the nutrient also helps keep the environment clean. Thus, soil testing is key to farming.

Define Soil Erosion and Soil Leaching.

Soil Erosion: In many parts of Bangladesh, soil erosion is a big problem. The rainy season, specifically the heavy rains, reduce soil fertility in hilly areas and around rivers, by washing away soil. If the top layer of soil erodes it becomes too hard to grow crops. Since farming here is very important, it is important to prevent soil from being eroded. You can control erosion by tree planting, and land management. In hilly areas, trees help hold the soil and protecting riverbanks retards soil loss. It is therefore important for our country's agriculture that we take steps to prevent soil erosion.

Soil Leaching: In Bangladesh, the climate is sometimes causing heavy rainfall, which leads to soil leaching. The rainwater carries away nutrients from the soil. Without these nutrients – nitrogen, phosphorus and so on the soil is less fertile. We need good drainage systems and good care for the soil. It will help crops get the nutrients they need, and increase agricultural production.

What importance is crop rotation in farming?

Bangladesh has a useful farming method and that is crop rotation. Planting different crops on one piece of land helps keep the soil balanced in its nutrients. For instance, rice is grown in one season and the legumes in the next, so the soil’s nitrogen level rises. Grown in different crops, chances of specific pests and diseases also reduce. As a result crops yield better and require less fertilizers and pesticides. By crop rotation, the farmers also save money and net profit. Farming using the method it is a sustainable and long term way of farming.

• Yield: The meaning of yield is the amount of crop gained in a given time on a piece of land. Good seeds, proper fertilizers and modern farming methods can help farmers get better yield in Bangladesh.

• Tillage: Tillage is preparing land for people to farm on. The thing that it does is makes the soil soft, kill the weeds and give them the basis for the crops to grow. Good crop grows in Bangladesh requires tillage.

• Grazing: Livestock grazing are when these animals feed of grass or plant in open fields. Livestock is widely farmed in rural Bangladesh, and grazing is the way the animals receive their food. That provides for reduced cost to farmers and improved soil fertility.

• Biodiversity: The variety of plants and animals is biodiversity means. Bangladesh has several types of trees, birds, and animal which help to keep more balanced in the environment. Good for agriculture and good for the environment. Biodiversity needs to be protected.

• Food Security:Food security is actually a situation where enough safe and nutritious food is available to everyone. In order to be able to do this, we need to grow more crops and set a good food distribution system. Food security is important because it decides the health and development of the people of the country.
