Daft Punk - Around The World

Despite disbanding, Daft Punk continues to surprise their fans with unreleased material. After announcing their breakup in February 2021 through an eight-minute video titled "Epilogo," the French duo remained active on social media, sharing material like never before. On this occasion, the musicians brought a storyboard of Around the World.

In over 1 minute and 40 seconds of video, the team reveals the composition process of the memorable 1997 clip. The original footage was directed by Michel Gondry, who would go on to direct movies like Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind. And visual effects for Massive Attack, Björk, Radiohead and more.

"Around the World" appeared on Daft Punk's iconic debut album Homework, as well as other hits like "Da Funk," "Revolution 909," and "Rollin' & Scratchin.". His video clips go down in history for their hypnosis, footage and coordination between dancers, mummies, aliens and other characters that appear before the camera.

In the storyboards shared by the band, you can see how each shot was planned and thought through with sketches and sequence diagrams of the scenes. On the other hand, you can also see small posters and instructions to guide the reader on how the different actors should position themselves and what kind of movements they should make.

In February, Daft Punk announced the relaunch of Homework to commemorate its 25th anniversary, sharing a one-off broadcast of the 1997 concert. It's a pretty rare show, recorded before everyone started donning their trademark shiny helmets and hiding their faces.
