Polish TV series "1983"

Did you ever wonder how would the world look like if the cold war would never end and the Soviet Union would be one of the most powerful countries in the XXIst century? Authors of the Polish political fiction series "1983" did, so they created the multiverse with the alternative world's history.


In the series, the terrorist attacks in Warsaw in 1983 are used as the pretext to create a police country where the opposition is not able to defeat the regime. Berlin wall was never destroyed, the cold war cuts off the East from the West and soviet countries uses modern technology to infiltrate the society more and more effectively. A young detective is trying to study terrorist attacks from the past to understand how did they affect the country.


"1983" is an intriguing series full of action, mysteries, sudden turn-outs. Until the very last episode, it surprises and amazes with its vision of a totally new reality, including the costumes, design of the products based on Polish communist-style, music, etc. Although on some basic level, it can be enjoyed by everyone, having some knowledge about Polish history helps to catch more details and experience it even more complex. It's totally worth being recommended.
