In the State of Lara, one of the traditional dances, or rather the most important one with origin in the city of Sanare, is the Dance of Zaragoza. This dance is celebrated in commemoration of the holy innocents !! Several cities of the State celebrate it or carry it out in commemoration on any day of the year; however, it is an official event every December 28 in Sanare where the streets are decorated for the great holiday.
En el Estado Lara uno de los bailes tradicionales o mejor dicho el más importante con origen matriz en la ciudad de Sanare, es el Baile de la Zaragoza. Este baile es celebrado en conmemoración a los santos inocentes!! Varias ciudades del Estado lo celebran o lo realizan en conmemoración en cualquier día del año; sin embargo, es un evento oficial cada 28 de diciembre en Sanare donde las calles se decoran para la gran festividad.
Our dance is also known as the “Dance of the Mad Women” in reference to how mothers lost their minds when their children's lives were taken by Herod. Something very beautiful about this dance is that it is taken as a celebration that transpolates into Venezuelan Andean cities such as: Mérida, Trujillo or Táchira; as well as the central or eastern plains of the megadiverse country.
Nuestro baile también es conocido como el “Baile de las locas” en referencia a como las madres perdieron la razón cuando a sus hijos le quitaron la vida, por órdenes de Herodes. Algo muy hermoso de este baile, es que se toma como una celebración que transpola en ciudades Andinas Venezolanas como: Mérida, Trujillo o Táchira; así como también los llanos centrales u orientales del país megadiverso.
It is a dance with a tradition of more than two centuries !! Each promesero hides his face and wears costumes of various colors that are now masks of jiraharas and beautiful corn husk costumes. It is a magnificent traditional dance where the culture and tradition of the Catholic Church converge with the purpose of honoring the innocent!
Es un baile con una tradición de más de dos siglos!! Cada promesero oculta su rostro y viste con trajes de diversos colores que ahora son mascaras de jiraharas y hermosos trajes de hojas de maíz. Es un baile tradicional magnifico donde la cultura, y la tradición de la Iglesia Católica convergen con el propósito de honrar a los inocentes!!
In the city of Sanare the promeseros pay their respects at 4:00 am, while at 6:00 they share a coffee and sweet bread before 8:00 am when it starts. the first mass of San Isidro that generates the opening of the dance !!
En la ciudad de Sanare los promeseros presentan sus respetos a las 4:00 am, mientras que a las 6:00 comparten un café y pan dulce antes de las 8:00 am cuando inicia la primera misa de San Isidro que genera la apertura del baile!!
